| Blue yorkies I just wanted to say a few things..... It is amazing to me how often in the past year I have been contacted by folks who have had a blue born pup. It is also sad to say that most of these babies did not make it. I have always emphasized that both parents need to be spayed/neutered as well as all litter mates. I also always tell people to contact their dam and sires human parents and let them know as well that their is a flaw in the linage. It is becoming more common it seems. But, if breeders just "put" the blues down and continue breeding their parents, they are passing along this gene time and time again. It just breaks my heart. If you or anyone you know has ever had a blue born yorkie, please please advice yourself or them to stop the line!! Contact EVERY owner of every litter you had in the past. If we get the word out there, we can put a stop to this!! BEFORE YOU BREED....have your baby tested for all genetic flaws including the "blue" gene..... Not to mention LP and numerous other issues. This is not fair to those poor, sweet baby blues... They didn't ask to be born a "flaw".....they didn't ask to have numerous health issues and problems. I know how fortunate I have been with my "blue" Mack Brown. Although we have faced many obstacles, he is a true survivor and fighter. Having said that, I would have never knowingly have bred his parents before testing them in great detail. I love him so very much and would do anything to guarantee his safety and survival.

| I think we just don't know what to say. Most of us have never seen or heard of Blue-born Yorkies before Mac. I hope some one is doing research on this. There is so much we need know. Hugs

| Thanks so much for your thread and for educating everyone on this. I've never heard of "Blue-born" yorkies but because of the information you provided I know about this now. If I ever hear about one I'll definitely pass along this information. I hope your little boy Mack Brown will be healthy for many years to come. |

| I see there is another thread concerning a person whose female had a blue and was still considering doing the breeding again. This is the place to educate people. It may be hard to take especially when you find it in your line but I hope people will start to take it more seriously. Yorkies are already suffering from enough defects. |

| I too am saddened by all the fault breeding & wish there could be laws against it. I still remember all you went through to bring a happy healthy puppy into this world & remember your 1st post about his birth & how saddened & sick I was, in fear that you would loose him. I watched for each update & prayed that each one would be a good one but always opened with fear that it would not . I do believe still that Mr. Mack is a little Miracle & must confess that I often peek at your albums just to see that special boy of yours & continue to Pray that he will live a Looooong & happy life. |

| I think you might be more aware of this issue because you have a blue born and you have been so open about your ups and downs with Mack. You have successfully raised a beautiful blue born puppy. It might be easy for others to reach out to you for support because you've been there. Good thoughts and continued blessings to you, Mack, and his daddy Bevo.

| Blue Born Mac Kendra, can we see a new pic of Mac. I have never seen him. I have only known one blue before and he is like your Mac. A survivor. Of course that was the end of breeding his parents.

| It angers me because if the caution never to breed the parents again was taken, less wee babies would need to die. Now I know blue is a defect but what is chocolate? As they seem to live a normal lifespan from people I've seen on here and I actually see breeders advertising chocolate yorkies. I thought it was a genetic defect too? |
