Blue yorkies I just wanted to say a few things..... It is amazing to me how often in the past year I have been contacted by folks who have had a blue born pup. It is also sad to say that most of these babies did not make it. I have always emphasized that both parents need to be spayed/neutered as well as all litter mates. I also always tell people to contact their dam and sires human parents and let them know as well that their is a flaw in the linage.
It is becoming more common it seems. But, if breeders just "put" the blues down and continue breeding their parents, they are passing along this gene time and time again. It just breaks my heart.
If you or anyone you know has ever had a blue born yorkie, please please advice yourself or them to stop the line!! Contact EVERY owner of every litter you had in the past. If we get the word out there, we can put a stop to this!! BEFORE YOU BREED....have your baby tested for all genetic flaws including the "blue" gene..... Not to mention LP and numerous other issues.
This is not fair to those poor, sweet baby blues... They didn't ask to be born a "flaw".....they didn't ask to have numerous health issues and problems.
I know how fortunate I have been with my "blue" Mack Brown. Although we have faced many obstacles, he is a true survivor and fighter. Having said that, I would have never knowingly have bred his parents before testing them in great detail. I love him so very much and would do anything to guarantee his safety and survival.
