| How often to change pee pad? Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this subject but I don't have any experience whatsoever with pee pads. When I do get a puppy (I am thinking this coming August) I might use pee pads. Not sure yet if I will use disposable or washable but either way how often do you throw them away (disposable) or wash them? Should I expect to use a new one each day or several times a day? I have no clue! I would image if the puppy pooped then I would just remove the poop from the pad. Please help this inexperience pee pad future furball momma!

| The answer differs from pup to pup. When Max was a pup, he would use the pad once and fold it up to tell me to dispose of it. Funny boy. I have two full-grown boys now and we go through about 4 pads a day. Depends on how much they use the pad because we do outdoors and indoors.

| Bella is outdoor trained but will poo on the pee pads. That I pick up flush. If she by chances pees on them I dispose of it then or when I notice. |

| Cooper goes in and out, but he wont use apad more than once, he also folds it over like it's icky for me to toss, he usually goes on his pee pad once or twice a day. I use disposables because I don't think he would use the washables more than once, the disposables are quick and easy. On rainy days we can use up to 5. |

| Hello!! I usually discard after about 3 piddles.......... but it kind of depends, on how many per day because he also goes outside. I bought a Diaper Genie for the used pads so there is no smell whatsoever in my place I was using the purina second nature doggie litter box and put the pads in that to save my hardwood flooring.... but have recently switched to the Big Squirt box. I didn't get the grass.... I just put a pad in it and put it in the corner. Loving It!! Last edited by RileyDC; 03-31-2012 at 09:03 AM. |

| Iwish could teach Cooper to use them more than once, but he just refuses, I take him out most of the time so he only uses about one a day some days none, in the rain more, if anyone has suggestions of how to try to get him to use it more than once time I'll try it. If it's used refolds it up or turns it in half, if it's used he will potty on the floor next to it. He has his own bathroom, that is tiled, but I prefer him not to pee on the tile, I think the smell gets in the pores and grout of the tile. I try to be green but Cooper isn't a fan. |

| Don't know where my post went butttt, disposable will be changed several times a day, versus picking up solid waste a couple times a day. If your dog is one of them that chews their disposable pads or won't soil on it more than once , you will be changing many more times. I used disposable for 7 years and spent a fortune on them, I ordered the washables from tbumpkins and it was well worth it, they have already paid for themselves...I change them every morning and throw them in a diaper pail to be laundered once a week, and the chewing issues, the refusal to resoil a disposable more than once problems are over....

| Gracie will use it twice. Maybe three times if there is a small pee on the pad. She does not like to step where she has already gone pee so she is quite particular about this. I had never used pee pads before Gracie and I have to admit that I really like having them. I live in the north east and it seems to be cold for many more months than it is warm outside. Gracie is bothered by the cold so if she was strictly outside trained like my other dogs were I would be spending a lot of time taking her sweater or coat off and on through out the day and evening hours. I use the disposable pads and it is not a huge expense for one little dog. I did use more pads when she was a puppy. You will know what to do when the time comes. If you puppy is like mine it won't want to step on a soiled area so it's pretty easy to know when to change it. |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | My pack is trained to use pee pads and go out in the yard, i have the pee pads in the porch, and when is raining or deep snow, my pack does not like to go out, so they go on the pee pads in the porch. i do change them daily, specially their evening outing at 11 pm is in the porch and is 5 of them silky dogs, so every morning I change the pads and wash every two days. hugs, |
