| Name Change After much debate, discussion, and a sleepless night, I have decided to change Patience's name to Mia. Hubby kept pushing, and has been calling her Mia for the last three days. I work with a rescue, and many times the new family changes the name of the dog they adopt. The dog always does fine, and learns to answer to their new name quickly. It's hard for me to get use to calling my fosters by their new names, and I must admit, I never like the new name they are given. It's not because they are bad names. It's just different than what I am use to. I don't want to upset Lori. She's been awesome to me, and many here have known Patience by that name since she was a pup. I talked to hubby at length, and I really think he wanted to be the one to name her. Apparently, he had narrowed it down to three names, and this is the one he felt suited her best, so he's really been thinking hard about this. I had final say on all four of our children's names, and I named our other two fur kids as well. He's sticking by his guns on this one, and if it means that much to him, I'm fine with it. I like the name Mia. It's short, sweet, and feminine, but Patience is a fine name too. George was never much of a dog person until Lucy came along. Wow, has he ever done a 180 degree turn on me now. He is just crazy about the girls, and they adore him too. It's hard to believe this is the same guy I married 33 years ago (on St. Patrick's Day). I guess you really can teach an old husband new tricks! I hope changing Patience to Mia doesn't upset too many people here, but I'm deferring to my sweetheart on this one. Mia it is!

| Kim, I understand completely..Prissy is our first Yorkie and my Dh is crazy about her and calls her Miss Priss most of the time and I catch myself doing it too, either way she seems to go with them too. This is the first female we have had and DH is enamored by her, don't get me wrong we love Yoshi, our Peke with all of our hearts but it is nice to have a little Miss Priss with us, we feel complete. Oh, you know what is funny, my Dh looks the same way as your Dh in the pic, big guys aren't they?

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Love the name Mia, it fits her so well. Patience is a pretty name too, but I can certainly understand wanting to use your (or dh's) preferred name. It would be silly for anyone to be offended. I would think most breeders expect owners to choose a different name for a new pet. I know what you're saying about fosters and new names. I've had some that their names were not known, all have learned their new names very quickly. lol....most of mine don't care what I call them.....just be sure to call them for dinner

| Mia is a beautiful name. Wow, 33 years congratulations!!! @ Joyce, my DH is a big guy and tough southern good ole' boy. When it comes to our babies, 2 or 4 legged, he is a sucker. I guess it it true the bigger they are the harder they fall!

| First of all Happy Anniversary Secondly, Mia is a great name I agree let hubby decide on this one. When we named our son I gave my husband a choice of 4 names and he said he liked Isaiah the best (my personal fav) so Isaiah it was I think it's so cute when the big guys are so sweet with the little furbabies. My husband isn't a big guy but he is athletic and sports oriented and he talks to Georgie all the time in baby voices LOL

| Since it is really the pup that is most affected by the change and she is fine with it, then it's not a problem. We always want our babies to be happy. |

| She's your baby now and you have naming rights. Any breeder or rescue worker that isn't hung up on the wrong things won't care a whit.

| My Miss Mia and I overwhelmingly approve of the name change Happy Anniversary! Many many more....! Cracks me up about the pics, my husband the big Sheriff Deputy is a lug when it comes to our girls too! He looks so funny with his uniform and the girls wearing pink with a pink leash and harness! He is sooo proud!!! I find it humorous, he looks like a big dork! Sorry but I call it like I see it!!!

| Congrats on the long marriage. We celebrate number 35 tomorrow. The name Mia is very cute. I understand why the decision to change is agonizing though. Compromising, even when we don't want to... sort of stinks at times. But then I guess that is why we are still married to the same man. My hubby calls Copper all kinds of things - good things. Right now I hear them in tv room, Copper is begging for chips and hubby is talking to him. My hubby is not a dog person, I'm lucky to have the one dog. He has warmed up to Copper though and will even walk him in the park for me.

| Happy belated anniversary to you and citygirl123 - happy early anniversary to you! Mia is a beautiful name and I am certain Lori will understand. I would guess that the majority of the pups that Lori has placed have had their names changed. Quite honestly, I think she looks like a little Mia.

| I understand the battle with a name change. i LOVED Peppermint's original name, Kaylee, but i had the name Peppermint picked out long ago. it was supposed to be Dexter's name but i ended up falling in love with a boy dog instead of the girl i was looking for! i thought about keeping the name Kaylee, but she was a Peppermint in my heart. a name is just a name and doesn't change the pup. she will be a beautiful, sweet and loving Mia! |
