| Puddle of water Just curious what you would do. When Bailey and I take walks around the neighborhood, he always wants to stop and drink in puddles of water after a rain. Do you let your dogs drink rain water at the curb? |

| No Way! But I live right in the middle of the city, here in DC. To many rats running around and peeing in the puddles. That is how they get Lepto. |

| I do not let Georgie or Coco drink rain water. It's hard sometimes especially with Coco (Boxer) because she starts drinking it before we can tell her no. I just always think about how long the water has sat there.

| Brandy likes to jump in puddles... I think drinking rain water may not be a good idea because of small insects and bactria...but if it happens by accident just becareful.. pigons bath in the puddles her in NY..and they carry lots of things..

| No, but I do not let mine walk in the street, either, or across parking lots. I would have lots of concerns...chemicals from chemtrails in the sky, bactria, and pollutants from cars. I do not let them walk in that ick because I do not want them to lick it off their paws. I might allow them to drink from puddles that are cleaner...perhaps after a hard couple days rain in a more woodsy, less urban setting, but not from the street. But I'm neurotic about stuff like that !

| No way! Stagnant water is a breeding ground for Giardia I don't let Peanut lick or eat anything from our walks!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Not only "live" critters to worrry about - if cars have been nearby, there's a big chance there are oil, coolant, and other potentially toxic chemicals floating in that water. Coolant is an especially big danger because it is sweet and animals seem to love it. Same reason I won't let any pets walk in my garage or on my driveway. |

| Many people treat their lawns with chemicals which gets into the puddles. I never let them drink from puddles.

| No way - no telling what's living or floating around in those puddles! Tibbe only gets fresh, clean water to drink and I change his water twice a day when his bowls are washed.

| No,I have Gracie on distilled water. I guess if she drank a little of fresh rain water it wouldn't bother me but I would try to avoid it. I take care of several stray cats and they would much rather drink rain water than the tap water I give them. Last edited by gracielove; 03-13-2012 at 03:30 PM. Reason: correction |
