YorkieTalk Newbie! | Help with my future puppy's weight? Hi, We are bringing home our new yorkie puppy on Feb 1st. The picture I have attached is at 5 1/2. Does he look bigger then an average puppy at the age? He is supposed to be between 4 to 5 lbs(fully grown). Parents: Mom is 6 lbs and Dad is 3.5lbs. I'm affaid that he will be over 7lbs fully grown. At 4 1/2 weeks his weight was almost 17oz. |

You will have a better idea as your puppy gets older what that weight might be. I wouldn't worry so much about him being over 7lbs unless you are buying him so show.

| There really is not a sure fire way to know.. just a good guess. Remy's mom was 5 lbs. dad 4 lbs. according to the charts she should have an adult weight of 3.5 lbs (based on her weight at 8 wks and 12 wks).. well.. she is 5 maybe even 5.5 lbs. (she is 2 years old.. she was 3 lbs until about 16 months) To be honest she is long legged and I was happy she put a little weight on because when she was 4 lbs I felt she was too skinny.

| All adult weights are really only guesses and you wont really know how big he gets until he gets there. Whats wrong with over 7 pounds? Mine is 16

| Ally was a little over 1 lb when I adopted her at 8 weeks; Tia was apprx 8 oz when she was adopted at 10 weeks. Ally just turned three years old and is 3 lbs 2 oz; Tia turns two years on Monday and is 6.5 lbs. We thought Ally would be bigger and Tia would be smaller! You just never know. |
