| Please help depressed yorkie :( Please help we really don't know what to do about our yorkie. Bella is 2 years old the only dog in our household and spoilt rotten She is usually such a happy excited playful little dog who loves long Walks and lots of attention. In the last week she has become what I can only describe as depressed. On walks she jumps up all the time And seems like she doesnt want to walk. She spends most of her time Upstairs on my bed asleep where as before she would always want to Be on someones lap. She doesn't want to play and even seems less Interested in treats but she is eating and drinking fine. Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks |

| I think you should take her for a vet check if this isnt normal behavior. She may really be in pain and its coming accross as depressed because dogs are good at hiding pain. Thats where I would start at least. If vet check turns out okay Id find new and interesting things to do to get her attention like obedience and playing little games like tug of war and hide and seek. Also now in the winter my yorkies are more passive and not as energentic so it could be that also. I try to take them on small errands with me and just playing with them periodically to give them something to look forward to

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | My first thought too was to take her to the vet for a good check up. I hope she is ok. Will say a prayer for your Bella! Keep us posted if you can.

| I agree with the others. It is time for a vet visit as dogs don't usually just get depressed for no reason. She could have impacted anal glands or an infection in her mouth or ear, it could be any number of things but she deff needs to be seen by a vet. |

It has become bitterly, freezingly cold 'over here'......are you sure she's warm enough (please don't forget it's far colder and draughtier on the floor than it is on the sofa/bed)? Or, she might need another little Littlie to snuggle up to?!!? Sally + Harry x | |

| My little Mac did this before. He loves his walks and we would go everyday when the weather was nice but one day he was walking funny and would stop and wouldnt walk. i had to carry him home- he had one of those little stickers stuck in between his pads. |

| I think she needs to be checked out by a vet. Callie got "depressed" like when her back knee/leg was hurting her so bad and it turned out she needed LP surgery and her ACL repaired because it was partially torn.

| I agree the cold could be bothering her. But I would for sure get her to the vet and have blood work done. Since a dog can't tell you what exactly is hurting doing some testing is important to help find things that can't be found with a stethoscope. It kind of bothers me when people say the vet didn't find anything wrong with their pet when all they did was take their temperature and look in their ears and listen to their heart and lungs. Hope she is feeling better soon. |
