| Did you ask for a BAT? I was just thinking about how a few weeks ago some older gentleman in Petsmart and I were talking about his new litter of puppies. He complimented me on Louie and how he was such a good boy and then proceeded to talk about his yorkie and how she had puppies that were available. I wasn't interested in getting one but I was curious to know if he did any health testing. So he said, "Yep. Clean bill of health. They're all vet checked and UTD on shots..." the generics. So I asked him if he did bile acid tests on his breeding parents or puppies...and he asked me what that was. I had to explain to him, the "responsible breeder" what that was! I never knew what it was until I went to a local dog show and a few members of the YTCA that I talked to handed me some literature on it and then I researched it more, asked my vet. So why not rule out at least the hereditary form of it? At least that'll save me one heartache. I know some people have various thoughts about doing BATS but I was curious how many asked their breeder for these?

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I expect health testing on the breeding pair, their offspring and am fully prepared to spend an additional amount for a puppy. It's completed with mine.

| I wonder if you ran into the same people that I did in Petsmart. They tried to get me to buy one from her "upcoming" litter. She told me that her pups would be ready to go at 8 weeks... Then proceeded to ask me if Gizmo was able to be studded out. Yeah...

| I didn't. Wish I would have. Most "good" breeders don't even do them which begs the question - how many really good breeders are there... I asked my vet to do it for Ellie even though she didn't have enough symptoms at the time to warrant it. Glad we did that.

| I've noticed that as well... I had to ask one YTCA breeder we were looking at before we got Louie if she was open to it and she did at her charge which I thought was nice. It came back a little high so we declined that pup. I asked Louie's breeder if she was open to it and she was a little hesitant because of the "stress" factor but it came back fine. Didn't bother me I had to pay extra for it since it gave me peace of mind. I'll always have a BAT done now if I get another yorkie.
