YT Addict | I am having Abby and Riley done next Thursday and Friday. They get dropped off at 7:30 am and get picked back up at 5:30 pm. If anyone reads these posts. How much time should I take off from work? I don't want to leave them too soon while they are healing. |

| I am not sure how long the surgery itself lasted but we had to drop Callie off at the vet around 8:30am and they said they would call us and tell us what time we could pick her up and I think we picked her up around 4:30pm. They do testing before the spay which takes some time and then they do the surgery and keep them until they wake up from the anastasia and they make sure they are doing ok.

| The surgery itself usually takes about 10-15 minutes plus time to suture. This doesn't include time to get the dog under and wake them up.

| That's what I was thinking. They do keep them most of the day to observe them, and make sure there are no complications. Some vets let them go home the same day, others insist on keeping the pup overnight.
