| Henry swam for the first time...how about yours? Hi All! Henry is doing great and swam for the first time yesterday. We have been bringing him to the park where there is a river and I have been wading out in it and he has followed. Then yesterday we were at a new spot and there were kids running from shore and jumping in...and he just followed and jumped in! It was well over his head so he had to swim!! I saw he headed right for shore and got out. I was so proud of him! He's only like 16 weeks old. Do any of your Yorkies swim? My darling Rocky-Boy never liked it much but Henry Da Boy seems to be getting it!! Cheers - Sean |

| Yay! I love to see a swimming dog, more specifically a swimming Yorkie Your little man is soooo cute. I love the name Henry for a little guy. Yes, Jackson is a water freak. He will find any body of water and lay in it, whether it be a baby pool, a lake, an inground pool, a puddle, etc.

| I wish Gabby liked water! She hates the pool! She hates it so much you'd think I'd tried to feed her cat food! She will float around on a raft, but that's just because she won't jump in the water to get out. Thankfully though she can swim & does know where the steps are, so I don't have to worry to much about her playing by the pool! |

| Mina loves the pool! Doggie lifejackets can be purchased at PetCo and online. Mina also likes to go snorkeling in the water bowl for icecubes. She will actually stick her head in the bowl (up to her eyes) and blow bubbles while chasing an icecube. My kitchen floor has a very clean spot in it where I keep cleaning the water up. |

He loves his lifejacket... he even runs around in it comfortably. I got it at Petsmart for around $18- you can even try amazon or ebay.com.

| I love that your dogs swim!! I hope Ella will do that and love the water. I have been taking her to the beach and introducing her to it slowly andso far so good. She goes in up to her belly and chases the waves. Hopefully that will advance to swimming!!

| How cute! I dont know if my Tera likes water or not. If I knew she would, I would invest in a life jacket.

| We took our new rescue, Wendell, swimming a few weeks ago. I don't know if he'd ever been swimming before. My husband took him out into shallow water and he swam to shore. He happily played along the shore with his favorite pink toy, but didn't go back in the water again on his own, so we didn't force the idea any more that day. To those of you with water loving dogs - did your dog just take to it right away, or did they have to try it a few times before they learned to love the water? |

I got Jackson in December so it wasn't until late May that he was able to experience the water. My dad has an inground pool so I was lucky enough to have lots of opportunities to try it out. For the first summer, he would voluntarily lay on the step and he always enjoyed that (so, by this point, he was 7 months old or so). Then I carried him in a few times so he got used to the steps and he always seemed to enjoy it... this was his 1st summer with me. By the 2nd summer, he was a diving fool. I feel like this year he enjoys it even more!

| Mrs. Beasley went swimming for the first time last week in the pond at our farm. Not sure she liked it too much. She came right to me, but was ready to get out when I got close to shore. I won't take her again until I get her a life jacket.
