Denim is home!!! Hey everyone!! so I picked Denim up on Saturday and he's amazing!! But i'm freakin out!! I am crate training him and he is in the house alone in the crate!! He should be fine right?? He will be there for 8 hours...he has food water a treat and toys and also a training pag in his crate. Also at night I can't sleep because he keeps barking wanting to get out. I should just ignore him so he's used to being in there and he knows thats where he will sleep, right? I need some assistance before I freak out at work!! Thanks guys! Pics posted soon

I don't know what to tell you. Yes he will be alright but I never used a crate. Our dogs were put in an x pen where they had more room to move around. My little Oliver sleeps in a little pen next to my bed at night. He used to cry and bark and I let him complain, now when I put him in the pen at night he goes right to sleep. Oliver is a Shih tzu we got him at 6 weeks old (long story). We also have a yorkie and a Shorkie and two Basset Hounds which are crated at night because they get into too much trouble if left loose. In my personal opinion, and I might be wrong but I think 8 hours a day is a little too long a time to keep your dog in a crate and then go away and leave him alone. Safety wise I'm sure he'll be okay but he may not be a very happy puppy.

Awwww... Congrats!! Denim is sooooooo CUTE!!!!!!! How old is he? .... My vet had told me that their bladders are not fully formed until they are about 16-weeks old..... I took the first few days off work when I picked my Riley up. Then I would only leave him for about 4-hours at a time.... I bought an XPen from Petedge.com and had his play area on one side of it and a weewee pad on the other. It is right beside my bed. I bought a Snuggle Puppy for him to sleep with at night. He will be 1-year old, next month and he Still carries his snuggle puppy "Buddy" around with him from room to room.

I completely understand where you are coming from. So what I'm going to do is get a pen today after we go to our 1st vet appointment and put it in the kitchen where he can be during the day when I'm not home and then I will crate him at night. Does that sound a little better??
