I don't know what to tell you. Yes he will be alright but I never used a crate.Our dogs were put in an x pen where they had more room to move around. My little Oliver sleeps in a little pen next to my bed at night. He used to cry and bark and I let him complain, now when I put him in the pen at night he goes right to sleep. Oliver is a Shih tzu we got him at 6 weeks old (long story). We also have a yorkie and a Shorkie and two Basset Hounds which are crated at night because they get into too much trouble if left loose. In my personal opinion, and I might be wrong but I think 8 hours a day is a little too long a time to keep your dog in a crate and then go away and leave him alone. Safety wise I'm sure he'll be okay but he may not be a very happy puppy. |
