| Nervous to leave my Pnut So its time for my year vegas trip with my work!! This yr Dh isnt going with me, he has to work over the weekend. Soooo I will be leaving Fri and coming back Sunday. I havent left and I already miss Pnut. I know Dh will be there to take care of him, but I still stress. Pnut is reallllly attached to me, when I am gone just for the night Dh says he will pace back and forth look out of the window, lay on my pillow, he wont eat, or take any treats, he is a mess!! Is there anything I can do to male Pnut more comfortable?? I know its a couple days, but to them its forever!!

♪♥ Jazi & Izi's Mom ♥♫ Donating Member | How about giving him your Pj's for his bed while you're gone? My girls LOVE to lay on my PJs in the morning when I'm getting dressed for work!!! Good luck!

| Aww, I know the feeling. I go to Vegas a couple times a year, each time for a couple of weeks and I can only take one with me so the other gets left home. I think it helps that I leave them with my parents dogs, so they still have doggy friends to play with. Also I try to leave brand new toys and have the person watching them give them a new toy every few days, this way they have something new to perk them up throughout the period I am gone. I am going again in June and this time I will be gone for three weeks, this will be the longest either one has ever been left. Is there a special food that Pnut really likes? like boiled chicken, or some type of canned food? If so you could leave some of this and have it mixed with his other food to try and entice him to eat. If not, you may want to consider leaving nutrical or Karo syrup on hand and make sure DH knows the signs to watch for regarding low blood sugar. Does Pnut ever go to doggy daycare? If so it might be good to schedule a few sessions while you are gone, so he has something to take his mind off you not being around.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | You've gotten some great advice here already. Only thing I would add is to realize it's a great learning experience for Pnut. You'll only be gone for 3 days, and he'll learn the world doesn't end. I've found that my trips away help turn them into more confident dogs. Our recent one-week trip was proof. The live-in dog sitter got sick and had to leave, and two other couples cared for them in their homes while we were away. When we returned, I was delighted that neither dog was stressed. In fact, they didn't even get overly excited to see us return. It showed me that they had matured enough to handle changes without getting overly nervous. Your short trip is a great baby step in that direction. So enjoy yourself and realize it's a positive thing for both you and your dogs!

Isnt is amazing how hard it is to leave them LoL!! Dh knows to give him Nutrical, so we are covered there, and he has some wet food here! I know Dh will try anything that he likes, If Pnut decides not to eat! Dh knows what to watch out for too with the low blood sugar, I havd DH well trained haha, he is Mommys boy but DH loves his Daddy too! Day care is a good idea, but with DH workin he might not be able to pick him up, Dh will be working pretty much all day until about 8pm and the daycare is 7am to 7pm, so I will tell DH if he can make it work to drop Pnut off at daycare on Sat, then Pnut wil be pretty sleepy and worn out too!! I'll also tell Dh to take him on a walk too an extra long one!! I know DH will take care of him, that was another thing I was stressed if Dh was able to go, I was stressed with who I was going to leave Pnut with!! At least he will be home with his Daddy! I just hate the feeling of Pnut looking for me, it breaks my heart.

Your words hit home Mike. I'm like Peanut's mom. I can't stand the idea of going anywhere without my little man. But, if it makes for a more confident Kaji.... I might consider going somewhere else without him.

| So I got back from Vegas. Pnut was sooooo excited to see me!! He kissed me for about 15 minutes, without stopping! Dh said he was acting strange Friday night, he would sleep, He he walk around the bed, lay on my pillow, go look out of the window, then he would hide under his pack n play. Dh said he didn’t sleep. Sat morning he will still acting funny, Dh had to go to work. He dropped Pnut off at daycare, picked him up. Pnut was there for like 4 hours. Dh said when they got home he was in a better mood, he was happy. I left Sat afternoon, I wanted to get home. I missed my Pnut and my Dh too much!! It is so hard to leave both of them, in the end everything worked out! I think Dh taking Pnut to day care really helped! I am glad its over with! Its so funny how much you miss your little furbutts!!

| I was going to suggest pj's too...glad I read all the replies first! Whitney curls up in my clothes on the floor while I take a shower, so I let her sleep with a tshirt when I leave. I always find her curled up on it when I get home! Hope you had a blast in Vegas! DH and I are going soon for his job too, and I can't wait.
