| Homemade Dog Agility Jump I've been wanting to try some agility work with Max and since there is nowhere local to even take him for training, I've decided to take it upon myself. I went to Lowe's and bought a variety of 3/4" PVC Pipe and T and L connectors. I just copied a design from an image online and put it together. I had to cut 2 pieces to make it shorter and had everything made in about 15 minutes. I put it on the floor in the kitchen and Max ran right through the middle of it, dragging it into the living room. I then decided to use a black net (cut from an ex-pen that he ate the zipper off) and attached it to the pvc pipe. The orange X is just wrapping ribbon taped to the net and the top has 2 black electrical tape strips added for design. I brought my agility jump outside on the lawn and here are 2 videos from yesterday. Max caught on immediately, while Cooper got a little frustrated and figured rolling over would get him the treat! The whole thing cost under $5. I'm going to build weaving poles as well as a few other jumps. I'm also going to search for a tube they can run through. Hopefully I'll have a full homemade backyard course soon

| How high is your jump? We made some as well from PVC pipe but I don't have them very high. We have three jumps and they will do it as long as the treats keep coming. I called a local place last week about classes but they tell me Buster shouldn't be doing it because of his LP, he has it in both knees. I don't have the jumps very high, but it does seem like a challenge for them as they aren't very tall. I wouldn't want it too high for Buster because of his LP but he does enjoy doing it.

| I didn't do any height research before building this. The height is 13". Max is very tall and agile so he can jump over this with ease. I'd like to go higher but I wanted to first see if he would jump. Cooper can get over it also without much challenge. I wouldn't make it any higher for Buster and I'm not even sure if he should be jumping. What about making a little course for him to weave through? He may enjoy that.

| So cute!!! Love those videos! Boy, they did get it and jump right over. Tibbe jumps over a cane I suspend between two points as part of his training daily and he will jump back and forth endlessly. I am a bit worried about him jumping very high and coming down on his little shoulder joints with great force so I don't put his too high. Terriers really do like to jump, though, don't they? I think they just have so much energy to burn they love to use it! Your boys are so cute! They look like they are a lot of fun!

| That's AWESOME! Can you make some equipment for me? Hahaha! I'm sure it's easy, I just haven't taken the time to go buy PVC pipes and figure out how to put it all together... Max looks like a NATURAL! I can't wait to see him weaving, going through tunnels, and a-frames in no time!

| Aww, I love it! The jump you made looks a lot higher than the ones we have used during Paw Scouts, so your boys must be naturals!

I know you are supposed to wait until the dog is over a year for high jumps so the growth plates completely close (18 months for large breeds). But these were how low they were in our class.... I'm guessing 8"? Awww, watching agility videos again makes me miss it sooo much! I can't wait 'til our classes start again. Here is a link I found: http://www.see-spot-sit.com/AgilityJump.html
