| I'm not 100% sure but someone please correct me if I am wrong. I think the breeder takes care of all the deworming because it must be done at a young age. I think my breeder was trying to tell me about deworming when I went to pick coco up and i think she said 3 times or something. All the dog's medical documents in Korean and I took it to the Vet and the vet didn't say anything except give her monthly worm preventative gel. Mickey uses frontline pills but coco was given a gel they applied a little below her neck. I asked about what it was and he said it covers more than heart worms where the pill only covers heartworm or something like that. I don't remember the name but I will ask the vet again when i'm back for her last shots on Saturday. (strangely, in KOrean you must take your puppy in 5x for all their puppy shots)

| thank you for replying... Gizmo was dewormed at 9 weeks( Safeguard), 11 weeks( Virbantel) and 13 weeks(Virbantel) by the breeder i got him from. I took my records to the vet and he never said anything about it. I was reading tonight and wondering if i should ask my vet when i go on saturday to get Gizmo's stiches out. |

I asked my vet when I first took coco in what does she need and when and he said we should pluck her ear hair cuz it could cause future problem (in terms of keeping clean) & the preventative and her final puppy shots (in korea u need 5 sets & rabies) this saturday. So I would ask your vet what your baby needs next

| Yes, most breeders worm their puppies because puppies are more susceptible to them and if they get any worms it can really affect the nutrition the puppy can absorb. As adults there probably is no reason to worm unless you have a positive stool sample. Vets do stool samples when dogs have diarrhea, are losing weight, hair coat isn't what is should be, or the dog is ill. Stool samples may be done yearly at your annual vet exam - individual vets have different practices about this. Revolution is an awesome drug that I use on my Yorkies. It's a montly heartworm preventative applied topically (just like Frontline). It also treats any earmites, lice, and 1 or 2 types of ticks. It doesn't kill all ticks or fleas so if you need it to kill ticks/fleas you should use Frontline but you can't use them together. Revolution also worms your dog against roundworms only which is the most common type of worm. It does not kill hookworms or tapeworms which can cause lots of trouble if your dogs gets them. Teresa |
