| How long did it take your 1st Yorkie to accept your 2nd?? Any tips?? Hi all... Reesie (13 weeks-male) has been home for 2 solid weeks now. Snickers (2.5yr old neutered male) has been not so happy we brought home Snickers from day 1!! I realize this will take time, but was hoping for some tips to speed things up!! Snickers just RUNS AWAY everytime Reesie is with him and Reesie RELENTLESSLY jumps in Snicks face which causes growling and snapping (no to light contact) but not enough to make Reesie back off, he KEEPS COMING BACK. Things that are going well: -Sleeping in the bed....they sleep less than 10 inches away from each other (last night about 5 inches away!!) -Training together for treats -Other than these things, Snick runs away and or snaps/growls Things I know to do: -Greet/do everything for Snick 1st -Make times with puppy positive-upbeat voice, treats, training etc -Walk them together (this is hilarious as Reesie is still not used to a leash) -Reesie starts Puppy Kdg Feb 7th (Snick may join for a few classses) -Reesie goes to Puppy Socialization every Tues night I spoke to a trainer last night and she reinforced everything I knew. If you have any suggestions...please let me know. I hope by a months time...they are friends. It's sad sad watching Snick run away. He occasionally will come to play but then just runs away as soon as Reesie starts jumping around......:confuse d: Thanks- Viv

| I think it takes longer for the adult dog to accept a new pup. I would give it 2 or 3 more weeks

| Is this a male/female combo? It sounds like you are doing all the right things and now you just need to practice patience. Ringo was my dominant, male, 4 year old Westie when we brought Lucy home and that first month was hell. But, slowly things became more normal and Lucy was just SO determined to get Ringo to play - that eventually she won him over. It's a good sign that they can sleep so close together. I would just make sure that Snick gets some special 'alone' time with you and 'alone' time away from the puppy to give him a little break.

| Each dog takes a different amount of time to adjust. With Brownie it took a few months before he accepted the others and the others accepted him. Hershey it took about a month. Gracie was the only one that was accepted right away, it was like she always belonged here. Don't worry Snick will learn to except and take an in interest in Reesie when he is ready. As Reesie starts to grow up and calm down Snick will become more comfortable with him. Puppies take time to getting use to for adult dogs so they usually do better once the puppy's behavior starts to mature. Snick and Reesie will be the best of friends in no time, just keep up what you are doing and don't get discouraged, it will happen.

| Have you tried putting light weight T shirts on them.... esp brown or black on Reesie.... I have noticed with my crew that they are a little miffed with the white coloring on the Biewer.... Tink thinks she's a big squeaky toy. Maybe Snicks would be better around him if less of his 'white' is showing?

| Josie was ready to rock but Jack just didn't know what the heck. Especially what is wrong with her ears. I keep them seperated but would let them out for short periods together for about 1-week. Jack took to Josie very quickly. |

| Kjc--yes, Reesie almost always wears clothing as he is being outdoor trained. Snick really hates him jumping in his face. Hopefully the puppy classes will help with that. bellababy08- THERE IS HOPE!!!! Well, I know there is hope, but I am happy to hear you noticed the same things my Snick is doing and to hear they love each other!! This waiting is NO FUN!!!!!!!!! Ringo1- Snick gets alone time with us daily. He also goes on my outings with Daddy, just the 2 of them and I have also taken him a few times. Viv

| Hi, Your thread was too what I was looking for. I just got confirmation that my new baby Jett will be home on Sunday. He is 13 weeks old today. Bella is 10 months old and am hoping desperately that they will be friends immediately. Since they are both young, and male female pair, I HOPE that the transition will be quick and painless. I am sure we are in for a few bumps in the road, but I too, am looking for any advice others can give on this topic! Good luck to you. Cute babies by the way!!! Sue |

| We were in the Police K9 business for a few years. We also rescued many cats/dogs because we could. The pets always came to my house to be assessed. Behavior issues? Jumping? Running off, lack of manners, food aggressions, etc. I always had a zoo of dogs & cats but my motto was EVERYONE has to get along. Male/female/dog/cat.....doesn't matter. Some pets took longer than others, but in the end I stayed the boss and everyone adjusted. It was always a happy/sad ending when one would leave us, but they all deserved their own special home. I was just a stop along the way.

| I have a 5 yr old neutered male yorkie(Timba) and then I got my 4 month old girl yorkie(Maggie) ... at first Timba was very bothered by her for awhile I say about a couple of months maybe 2 or 3 months went by now they are starting to get along better.. it takes time for them to adjust.... I guess Timba realized that she wasn't going no where.. so I might as well get used to her.... they are starting to sleep next to each other now.. little by little but she likes to annoy him.. I guess cause she is the baby still.....

Vivian, we have a couple of young pups in our neighborhood who like to jump on Maximo's head and he hates it. Normally he is such a gentleman around other dogs, but when this happens, he growls at them. Definitely work on getting Reesie to stop that and it will pave the way for Snickers to get closer, check out Reesie more and accept him.

| It was funny, we worried about him hurting her. She chased him everywhere. He would run from her. |
