Hi all...
Reesie (13 weeks-male) has been home for 2 solid weeks now. Snickers (2.5yr old neutered male) has been not so happy we brought home Snickers from day 1!!
I realize this will take time, but was hoping for some tips to speed things up!! Snickers just RUNS AWAY everytime Reesie is with him and Reesie RELENTLESSLY jumps in Snicks face which causes growling and snapping (no to light contact) but not enough to make Reesie back off, he KEEPS COMING BACK.
Things that are going well:
-Sleeping in the bed....they sleep less than 10 inches away from each other (last night about 5 inches away!!
)
-Training together for treats
-Other than these things, Snick runs away and or snaps/growls
Things I know to do:
-Greet/do everything for Snick 1st
-Make times with puppy positive-upbeat voice, treats, training etc
-Walk them together (this is hilarious as Reesie is still not used to a leash)
-Reesie starts Puppy Kdg Feb 7th (Snick may join for a few classses)
-Reesie goes to Puppy Socialization every Tues night
I spoke to a trainer last night and she reinforced everything I knew. If you have any suggestions...please let me know. I hope by a months time...they are friends.
It's sad sad watching Snick run away. He occasionally will come to play but then just runs away as soon as Reesie starts jumping around......
