| Meet Riley! hi, it's been a while..i lost my 2 yorkies in a divorce :-( long story short ex kept them. after long search, would like everyone to meet Riley! so adorable, he is 8 weeks..and already such a character! and after a few days i already love him..so not fair lololol no one seems to like the name Riley but me, what everyone else think? friends/family all think teddy or bear more appropriate for him. i forgot how hard potty training is...any tips? he does great at night with crate training. will use his wee wee pad, or even hold it. but when he is loose he seems to forget, i keep putting him on a pad he'll walk right off and try to pee or pooh anywhere but the pad! lol am i expecting too much from a 8wk old? thanks and glad to be back!

| I love the name Riley. Get an x-pen to put his bed, pad, food and water in, when you cannot watch him. You can line the bottom with vinyl or even a plastic shower curtain.

| Hi In the first place 8 weeks is very young and as I've been told Yokries are hard to potty train. Zach is 9 months old and he still has accidents when he's playing and forgets to use the wee wee pad. When he's confined he also does fine. Don't worry with patience and love he'll get the hang of it. These dogs are like children playing, they forget to go to wee wee. Zoe who is a shorkie (shih tzu and Yorkie) was the same way also all of a sudden at 9 months she was housebroken and never had an accident again. I'm not saying Riley will take that long (btw Riley is really a cute name). You have to keep at it. Just keep putting him on the wee wee pad after eating and drinking. I have a 8 1/2 week old shih tzu who is 90% trained already. I was very lucky with him. They say who have to confine them until they learn otherwise they will go all over your home. |

| Well.... "I" LOVE The Name Riley!!!! I have a Riley. He is "8"-months old....and has been Absolutely Awesome! I bought a purina second nature dog litter pan but instead of the dog litter, I put the weewee pads in it. He has had no problems. I get his pads from PPE Pet Supplies: Clean Go Pet™ Puppy Pads - Clean-up Made Easier I also bought a genie diaper for the used pads to eliminate any odor!! He is peepee pad trained and will also go outside. When I take him to friends or families houses, I show him where I am put his pad and he is good to go.... of course, I don't take the box with me. LOL!! Congrats!! He Is Certainly A CUTIE!! |

| Ah Riley is a sporty name, I like it! I agree with yorkieusa, get an x-pen to put him in when you cannot watch every second. He is still in training. And it will take a while for him to know use the potty pad and not every where else. Congratulations! |

| Also, my Vet told me that a puppies bladder is not fully formed until they are about 16-weeks of age. Quote:

| yes, i like the exercise pen idea... and i never thought of a diaper genie it really does make sense....find myself throwing the garbage out 3-4xs a day! i think im trying too hard, and have to remember he is just a lil bitty...and hes pretty smart, cause he has no accidents over night...so im pretty sure he will get it. I think im trying so hard, only cause my last yorkie never, ever grasped potty training...loved him to death...but hated living n a pee-hole too lol i blame myself for not being diligent enough, i dont want to make the same mistake again! and yes, i love the name riley....so boo to the nay-sayers...i dont knock their pups names! lololol funny thing i wanted a girl this time so bad cause ive only had boys...when i saw the litter i fell in love with a boy again! lololol guess im a boy lover. one day ill get my girlie lol - riley will need a companion once he's trained! |

| He's adorable! How long has he been home? Just give it time, and yes, you must be diligent. When I went looking for a second yorkie I too thought I wanted a girl, but I fell in love with the little boy! I love the name Riley. In Indiana we have a great childrens hospital named Riley and I have a few friends who named their pets after it.

| Riley is cute and so is the name!!!! I think young dogs are like human toddlers. They get so involved with playing that they don't realize that they have to go potty. Have fun with your new pup!! |
