| Leaving a yorkie home alone I have to leave my 4 month old yorkie home alone for 8 hours only 2 days out of the week. Every other day of the week she is supervised 24/7. For the 8 hours that no one is available to watch her she gets the bathroom all to herself. Its well lit and she has everything she could need: comfy crate, toys, food, water, pee pad, etc. She's not properly pee pad trained, sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn't. The problem I'm having is that on the days that she is left home alone, when she poops, I think she eats it. When I come home from work, her poop is scattered into little pieces. Anything I can do to prevent this? This can't be good for her. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | This happened to me when manolo was a little younger. I'm not sure if she ate it, bc it was scattered too and looked like it was being played with. U are Def not alone with this. She had toys too. Good news is she doesn't do it anymore - so I'm thinking it might have been a phase.

No Longer a Member | there are a lot of members with poo eating yorkies. I think it has to do with mimicing what they saw their mom's doing (keeping the den clean) Just do a search with "poop eating" and I'm sure you'll get quite a few hits. |

Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | Hi and welcome to YT. She should be okay for those 8 hours with the set up you have. Poppy sometimes eats her poop too, I read in a yorkie book I have that this is common with pups and causes no harm. Sometimes they do it because they are cleaning up after themselves or because they are plain hungry and its appealing to them. The book said that they usually grow out of this behaviour at around 1 year old.
