| When should I bring him home? Our Skippy is 9.5 weeks old and currently lives just up the street at my neighbor's house with his doggy mama. He comes over to our house for several hours a day and loves playing with his toys and taking naps here--especially between my feet. My neighbor came with me yesterday to Skippy's first vet and first shot appointment. He now weighs two pounds and did well with his shot, they clipped his toenails, and gave some drops for the yeast in his ears. (My breeder likes to wait until 9 weeks for the first shots so that the puppy can be a bit bigger before being immunized.) The vet said she thought Skippy was ready to live with us fulltime. Later, in talking with my neighbor, she said that she thought he could come home with us fulltime at the end of this week or next week--so at either almost ten weeks or almost eleven weeks. (We prefer to bring him home on a Friday so that my husband can be of more help with nighttime issues.) Any thoughts? We're in a bit of a unique situation in that the breeder and the mama dog live just a couple houses away and Skippy has been spending hours a day with us (although has not spent the night) for a couple of weeks now.

| Congrats on your new baby I am a breeder, and only follow the AKC guildelines of 12 weeks before the pups go home. But in your case, the breeder is so close and the pup has been at your house for visits. I would think that he will be just fine coming home at 10-11 wks. His size is good too for going home. Good luck on your new family member, I am sure you will have so much joy from this wee love.

| Congratulations on getting your new baby and Welcome toYT! Does he have any littermates? If so, I'd definately leave him there with the litter. He may be healthy and at a good weight but I believe they learn ALOT from their littermates during weeks 8-12. It's the socialization period and very important.

| Congratulations on your little yorkie and welcome to Yorkie Talk. I agree with the longer a puppy stays with their Mom and littermates, is best. They learn so much during the first 12 weeks. |

| I know your anxious for your pup but he should stay with his mom and littermates until hes 12 weeks. He is learning important socialization and it can even effect your pups behaviors.

| Thanks for the feedback--please keep it coming. The only other puppy in the litter is gone--the breeder of the stud took him already.
