| So whaddya think? Cut it or leave it? (and update on Dora) I snapped a couple pics of the girls yesterday, and looking at Missy's coat...I'm wondering if I should cut it? She's 1 yr 7 months old now, and I've just been letting it grow and trimming the tips of her coat when they touch the floor. She is lookin' pretty shaggy though. I'm also wondering if she'd be more comfortable with it short. What do you all think? Cut it or leave it? I'm throwin' in a picture of my goobergirl Dora. Today is 10 days post-op after her spay, and she sailed through her recovery without a hitch. My new vet is THE BEST! I am positive that Dora's great recovery was due to having such an awesome surgery.

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | they are both very very cute!! Personally i like yorkies in a shorter cut. mine is shaved pretty short because she has a cotton coat and i'm too lazy to manage all that hair. I do like the modified schnauzer cut on a yorkie. Nancy's Joey sports this cut. There is a thread on the "joey" look here with picture. Basically the blue body is cut and the tan legs are left long. head can be left long or cut to whatever length, same goes for the tail. You can also leave a schnauzer "skirt" if you like.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | She;s a beautiful litlle yorkie ! I like the 1st picture but with summer coming - you can take that into consideraton - here in Tex it is HOT and I cut down my Chanel but she still feels the heat more than Cheri when outside....worries me now since she's so much older than when I used to keep her in long hair ps = they like it short too - I notice when I cut her she thinks she's all that and a bag of chips ! I love her long hair and always have but it's just too much work and also getting hot, We no longer have a yard and the apartment isn't as cool as the big house my husband and I used to have so short it is ! |

| Missy is beautiful -- and I love her long hair BUT.... I just personally prefer yorkies in shorter do's and I think Missy would look like a puppy again with her hair short! I think since summer is just now beginning, it might be good to get it cut, she may be more comfortable? And then just let it grow long again in the winter?

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | Yr Girls are Adorable! So glad Dora is doing great after her spay. I remember Missy as a puppy & look how pretty she is as a young little lady. I say: even as much as I adore the shorter cuts........let it be. She's Beautiful. Especially if you haven't had lots of problems with matting during the last year.

| I love Missy's long hair, she is so pretty, but if you feel she will be more comfortable during the summer months with her hair shorter you should cut it, it'll always grow back! Dora is a doll too

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Jazzy had really long hair and she LOVES it short. She has bell bottoms from the knee down. (the hair is longer) We left her face and head longer so we can do top knots. I love it. I say go for it. |

| We used to keep our last yorkie long, but he had really thin hair and it never gave us problems, nor did he act hot. Since then, we've gotten our little girl and she has the cutest hair, however with her size we are gonna keep it in a long puppy cut. Not shaved but about 2 inches long on the body. Possibly you could do that! |

| Don't cut it! Missy is gorgeous in her long coat. I like both long and short hairstyles. Missy would look great either way. Depends on your lifestyle and climate. The longer coats are definitely hot in the summer. Glad Dora is recuperating so quickly. She is a cutie! |

| thats a hard one Missy is a Doll!!! But I think if you are going to be busy with her this summer and its gets hot where you are, then I would do some cutting!! You dont have to go super short.. Just trim, where she is happy and stays cool. I think she would be soooo cute with a puppy cut! I think it does make them look younger. If you cut it now by the time winter comes it should be nice and long again anyway, I just cut Pnut, he wasnt nearly as long as Missy, but he was getting there. He wasnt happy with the long hair in the heat. So I shaved him down, it was extremly hard!!! I know in like 5 months it will be long again so its not big deal to me. We were at the pool yesterday and he was laying in the sun and running around and he had a blast!!

| I like the shorter cuts too. Both of mine are kinda cottony, so the shorter cuts are easier for me to manage....I also like to dress mine, so I don't want them to get too hot this summer.
