| Help! Yorkie marking! I think my little guy has started marking...twice now, just after I've taken him outside and he's gone pee, he's come back in the house and peed where our (female) schnauzer sleeps. The vet says they don't neuter until 6 mos, and he's 5 1/2 - will this help?? Any other suggestions? I've never had a male dog, so I'm totally out of my league... |

| I would neuter ASAP until the marking becomes a habit. While waiting to neuter, you can use 'belly bands.' I've seen them on here. Or just watch like a hawk!

YT Addict | 5 1/2? meh neuter now. We did at exactly that age, and it was something as simple as we were going on our (late) honeymoon, and needed him to be a bit healed before going to grandma's house. It was fine, and it was the vet's suggestion since he had started marking like CRAZY... He wore a cone for 2 straight weeks though, and you think marking's bad? Wait until they can't go outside or take a bath for 2 weeks, and you have to watch to make sure they don't get at their stitches... ha! That's fun....

| Alfie has started to do this and he is 6 months on the 20th and being neutered on 23rd. a member on here said it might be because he is letting other dogs know he is there. I suppose letting them know he is 'sexually' ready. We have a 7month German shepherd bitch and perhaps he is telling her "I'm here!" We have been watching him very closely and he hasn't done it for a few days. He's humping the MALE German shepherd's tail non stop though

| Most people say that you should get them neutered before they are a year old. My yorkie was 2 years old and he started messing all over the house. We didn't have any other dogs. But we got him neutered at 2 years old and he stopped. I think Neutering helps a lot. Get it done as soon as possible |

| I have had several male ogs, never a Yorkie though. I never had a problem with marking, and all were neutered between 12 and 15 months. Maybe due to the small bladder size, they just have a harder time holding it. We have to let the little girl out every 2 hours. if not, she will find a spot on a nice WHite Wool rug....The big guy never has had a problem after he was trained, and that took all of 3 days. |

| Sandy turned 7 months old yesterday and we planned to have him neutered when he's 6 months old. We haven't done that yet because it worries me to bring this little guy for surgery. He's only 3lbs. I noticed he has started to lift his back right leg... |

| There are females that also lift a rear leg. Our female occasionally does it, and she was spayed at 9 months. She is now almost 13 and still does it. |
