| Thankyou YT members! :) Basically, i just really wanted to let all the members on this site know how helpful they've been for me and my research for my new puppy. I got my little furbaby after MONTHS of excitment and research but after a couple of days it became apparent that there was something not right at all with her and my vet advised me to return her. It took a LOT of tears and the fact that she nearly died in my arms at 3AM to realise that something had to be done because she couldnt suffer like this anymore. The lady whom I got lily from took her back and is giving me 'a replacement' () puppy very soon. After reading lots of posts from owners and breeders on here I have learnt that my next baby shouldnt leave the lady until 12weeks and i have decided im deffinately getting the biggest of the litter. (lily was the smallest and i think she had liver problems ) Every time i think about my puppy i get this horrid sick/paniky feeling.. im so worried a repeat of what happened to lily will happen again! But at the same time i CANNOT WAIT for my baby to be 12weeks and coming home.. hopefully a picture of health So yeahh, thanks everyone and you'll deffinately be hearing my thoughts/questions in the near future |

| I'm sorry you had to go through that! I'm sure that must've been devastating to you!!! My question to you is did the breeder give you your first puppy before 12 weeks? Is the new puppy from the same litter? Are you sure you would be willing to risk the same health concerns? I'm not trying to shoot down your hopes as you've already been through the ringer, but i'd hate for you to get another puppy from the same breeder/same litter and have THAT puppy gave health issues too because it could be genetic. All the best of luck to you!!!!

| If you are getting the puppy from the same breeder, then I would take it to the vet immediately for testing. Liver shunt is genetically passed and I don't want to see you get one that might have those problems.

| Hi Chandracz, yes i got lily at 8weeks, but at the time i thought this was perfectly normal because i have some other (bigger) dogs at which were perfectly healthy/weaned which i also got at 8weeks but i realise now that for a yorkie--its still too young. No my next puppy isnt from the same litter, or the same mum but i'm really worried that lilys condition is inherited as the breeder probably used the same stud dog. But she wouldnt give me my money back-- only a 'replacement puppy fully vaccinated'. But my mum and my vet said that even at 10weeks the puppy should be alert and inquisitive (which lily really wasnt-- she just slept ALL the time ) so my mum wont let me have the puppy and get attached again if it seems sick. (Obviously i will visit her multiple times before she is ready so we should know) Thankyou |
