| Still very picky I posted a couple of days ago about a 8yr old yorkie that I adopted. It is the most tedious thing trying to figure out what she likes!! I bought a bag of Science Diet...brought it back cuz she frowns at that. I bought 3 different flavors of Cesar and she ate one kind and frowned at the other 2. I got some assistance today at the pet store and bough Nutro Ultra for seniors (Lamb and Rice)...she basically licked the juice and didnt eat the meat. I know she is hungry because she sniffs the dishes and then walk away. She is still trying to eat my cat's food, but I had to move that high, so she wont get to it. Any ideas of what else to try? I really dont want her to be hungry. She only ate one piece of the Ultra after I literally forced it on her. Oh...she also has kennel cough which I am just watching as told by the vet. If she is not better by Monday, I have to bring her back to the vet. But I dont think this is what is affecting her eating. She drinks the same, follow me around and LOVES to go walking or running I should say. I just think she is picky... |

| Nutro is not a very good food, if you Google "Nutro Consumer Affairs" you will see a lot of issues. Dogs even died from it before. I don't know if they ever fixed the problem. But anyways... my dog is VERY picky, too... the only food he's consistently eaten and loved is Nature's Variety Instinct. He also just started on Fromm Surf and Turf dog food and loves it. These foods are not available at the Petsmart, you have to find a mom-and-pop type pet supply store that sells them. If you find the official website of the food, you type in your zip, and it gives you closest stores available! Good luck! Jackson also suffered from kennel cough and with some antibiotics from the vet, it was gone in a few days. He was making a terrible coughing/hacking/gagging noise mostly at night and in the morning.

| I just had to force feed her! She hasn't eaten enough in 2 days. So, I got a fork and fed her...and she ate from the fork!! but then, I put the food in front of her and she sniffed and ignoredf it. I think I figured out that her previous owners were table feeding her. How do I break this out of her. If I put the food down, she will not eat it and then ants take it over and it is bad. Help! She needs to eat!! |

| Have you tried putting some parmesian cheese in it or mixing it with cottage cheese or yogurt. I had a baby kitten that wouldnt eat at weaning time so I had to hand feed her with a tiny doll spoon for a couple of weeks before she would eat on her own

| So she is eating now without me forcing! I am so excited. But it is the Nutro brand that I heard bad things about. Being that I just adopted her and not knowing much about her history, I want to make sure she gets the best food. I think she likes the rice and chicken in the chunks or beef and vegetable. What other high quality food is out there with such similiarity. Took me 4 days to figure out what she likes, and now I have to change it. But, I will do whatever to make sure she is getting the nutrients she needs. |
