Hair Question My puppy is 9 months old and lately I am seeing a lot of little black fuzz balls around the house, mostly on the floor but sometimes on the couch, bed etc. I thought Yorkies are non-shedding. Is this normal, like is she losing her baby hair or could this be a health issue? I don't always brush her hair every day, but I do at least every other day and I give her a bath once a week. The hair I am finding is not in long strands, they look like the snarls that come out when I use the comb on her hair.

She is most likely losing her puppy coat. You need to make sure you are brushing her deep enough. Many times people fust go over the top and underneath it is all matted. Just another thought, is she scratching herself, if so she might be pulling out hair.

You case does not sound like my dog, but my girl leaves hair everywhere! Worse than any shedding dog ever! She has a nice coat, but her hair is very brittle and breaks off terribly. I have her on high quality food with fish oils and it does help. My vet doesn't recommend bathing more than once every two weeks, and I go even longer, but that may be something to think about too.

She is scratching herself, but she does not have fleas. I am using a mild shampoo that says it is for sensitive skin. She whines when I try to use a pin brush on her and the soft bristle brush just seems to glide over the top, so I use a metal comb on her. Sometimes I use a little comb that is for parting the hair for a topknot and I think I am getting all the way through the hair, but she does have thick hair especially on the rump. I know I don't do a good job on her feet and tummy because she wiggles so much. Do I need to take her to the vet to see why she is scratching? If she is still leaving the little hair balls all over the house come spring I may get her hair cut in a puppy cut, I don't have time to vacumn every night.
