| Crate Training my new Yorkie? I brought my baby home on Sunday, and I just LOVE her. I have been crate training her, and plan on doing so until she is completely potty trained, and then I will let her sleep with me. Has anyone had good experiences with crate training your puppies? She cries a little when I first put her in, but then falls asleep....and then usually cries at about 2am to let her out to go to the bathroom...I will let her out and then put her back in...she cries for about 5 minutes and then sleeps through the rest of the night What are your experiences?? And do you believe that crate training really helps with the potty training (i am training her to go outside, no potty pads) Thanks!! |

| I think crate training is great! I think if you do it the right way. I crated peanut when he was a pup and it worked great! I think its also good that they know they need to behave when they are in a crate just in case down the road you ever need to put them in one, they are use to it!

| Sounds like you are doing just great with your new baby! Congratulations. Crating training is best in my opinion.

| I think the best thing for potty training is crate training! Plus it will be very beneficial to your dog to be used to a crate even after potty training for travel and safety reasons. My dogs are never in a crate in the house (they are all 5+ years old now) but when we go camping and traveling, they are very comfortable in them which is very nice! |
