| A lovely little ignorant gem from yahoo answers More likely your dog is poor quality yorkie. I have seen plenty of yorkies that are larger & with the thinner less coat similar to a silky. Right now there are huge differences in the qualities in yorkies since they are so overbred. I groom 2lb to 40lb yorkies with every type of coat imaginable. Source(s): 30yr of grooming ..What is there to say? A forty pound yorkie? What dog even looks like that?

| That had to be a typing error which meant to be 4lb and they accidentally typed the 0...LOL Then again as I re-read it maybe not...LOLOL Too strange. What would a 40lb Yorkie look like? A large Terrier type dog I guess. Then it wouldn't be a Yorkie. Last edited by Cerise; 10-16-2009 at 05:01 AM. |

| =O! I was gonna say..maybe she confused a westie with a yorkie? They do look alike but the westies are black or white.. But even then...40 lbs? I don't think they weight as much. Umm weird.

| Too bad there weren't pictures attached. I can't imagine what a 40lb yorkie would look like.

| Actually, I have seen a 31 pound yorkie, BUT, he is morbidly obese. It is very sad. He goes to the same veterinary clinic that I use.

| awww thats sad I hope they get that dogs weight under control. That to me, is animal abuse, maybe out of love, but abuse none-the-less.

| Maybe they were not talking literally? Maybe she was just exagerating to get the point across that she has groomed yorkies that were tiny and big. I don't know... Maybe.

| I don't have a lot of expirence with westies but the ones I've seen look to be around 18-25 lbs (about the size on my mother-in-laws dog) so even if you did confuse a yorkie with a westie 40 lbs seems absolutely ridiculous. I sure hope that was a typo. I'd hate to think someone was out there grooming peoples dogs that can't even tell whats a yorkie and whats not. lol |

| Well..............maybe the Yorkie was really a Yorkie mix that this person was talking about Really, anything is possible The first thing that I thought was that if a teapot was mixed with a midsized poodle you could easily get a very large Yorkipoo. But he was cute too. I would have to agree there is NO WAY that this person is talking about just all Yorkie

| Most folks get the Australian Terrier mixed up with a Yorkie. They are quite similar but the AT is larger and thicker boned. Maybe she/he is just seeing a mix of an AT or an AT that is overweight. What a strange posting anyway. What was the point I wonder to throw that out at us? australian terriers - Google Search
