| Playing fetch When did your dog learn how to play this game? Does he/she like to play? Just curious to see how many yorkies enjoy to play and how often? I've had Stormy since Oct of 2008 and she has not once ever wanted to play this game. Let alone even act like she knew how to play! But for some strange reason today she grabbed a bone and wanted to play fetch with it! I would throw it, she ran after it, would bring it to her bed and then run over to me wagging her tail and drop it. She's definitely more "hyper" then she ever was, has alot more energy and spunk thats for sure. But she's never played this game with me lol We always play this with the new pup and she would watch, but today she finally wanted to play it, and actually joined in again after to play with her "big" baby sister. lol Last edited by yorkie_mama22; 07-02-2009 at 12:02 PM. |

| Gracie Ruth taught me how to play fetch when she was 3 months old. It's one of her favorite games. Boo doesn't do fetch...paa-lease , but will play tag for hours. Annie's favorite game was hide and seek. sigh...I miss playing that with her. Yogi's favorite is steal whatever chew toy Gracie has and then taunt her with it. He's such a boy.

| This was Becca's favorite thing to do. She'd go for hours if I'd let her. I don't remember who taught who to play, though. My guys now have the 'run after and pick up' part down pat. But, we've still got a lot of work to do on the 'bring back to momma' part.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I can tell how tired Thor is by how he responds to fetch. He will always, always chase the ball like it's a wounded pigeon. If he's feeling peppy, he will bring the ball back to me, and being the mercenary that he is, he'll get a treat. When he starts to get tired, he'll wander off with the ball and drop it somewhere I can't reach it. Of course, if I go to pick up the ball, he flips out and wants to chase it again. It can be quite a challenge to sneak the ball back into my purse once it's been out.

| My Daisy loves this game! Well wait...she loves to chase a ping pong ball across our wood floors but she really sucks at bringing them back to me...She will dare me to take the ball, but allows me to do so when I get close to her. Then we start the cycle all over again! |

| Oh my gosh, my two are crazy about fetch. All I have to do is say, " where are your toys" and they go nuts. |

| I taught Tbone to fetch when he was maybe 2 and a half or 3. I feel like he has been slow to learn tricks, but I like to call him ADD dog because he gets so hyper when trying to pay attention. But we just used one toy for fetch and nothing else, and lots of yorkie yummies. He loves it because I try to switch it up by throwing it over furniture or the bar in our kitchen so he doesn't see where it goes, and he has to find it and bring it back.

| Addie began fetch about a month after I got her, so at 10 months. She first started wanting to play when I would be taking a bath. I guess she just got bored and figured she might as well have me do something productive. She plays with mini tennis balls for a little while. She gets easily distracted, though, and will see another of her toys on the floor nearby and run toward that one with the ball in her mouth. Then she'll try and take both over to me and never manage as one always slips away, so she'll wrestle over the decision of which one to play with. The ball always loses. She grabs the new toy and runs over to me, wanting me to fight for it and then throw it.

| Ben has his own concept of "fetch." He gets a toy, whines at me to chase him and sometimes catch up for a tug-of-war with the toy, but never get it away from him completely. He does not like to relinquish control! His favorite time to play this game of his, is right after I get really comfortable and start a movie I have been dying to see! LOL! He is quite a character and not to be ignored! Rocky is 4 months old and has not got the idea of "fetch" yet either. He loves tug-of-war and will gladly run down a thrown toy, but no one here wants to bring it back to me!!

| I would love to learn how to "teach" Maggie to fetch. She will run 90 miles an hour to the toy when you throw it, sniffs it and then runs back to you empty pawed! Hot Rod somehow just knew how to play fetch ever since we threw the first toy.

| Fetch??? If I throw a toy across the room, Bailey will turn her head to see where it landed and then look back at me. Bottom line - no food, no fetch!

| My Bella is the exact same way She has been playing since her mouth got big enough to hold her little ball. lol. For a while she wouldn't bring the toy back, but thanks to a ton of treats and praise from mommy and daddy, she is a fetch expert.

| Haha awe thats so cute, its the same with Nana ill just say 'go get your toys' and she'll go get them and make me play until I cant lift my arm anymore haha. Charlie on the other hand will run for the toy but never bring it back, he'd just perfer laying in his bed a chewing on it. Haha its always a battle between them when their chasing the same toy. |

| Addie Loves Fetch Addie loves to play with her football. She can catch better than the WR's for the B-more Ravens and DC Skins. She always brings it back drops it at my feet and begs for me to toss the ball one more time. |
