| Help may need to rehome unhappy yorkie I have had yorkies forever and I got involved with yorkie rescue. I adopted a couple that I fostered to find out that like people they all have their own ideas of what makes them happy. I did end up for placing a little girl after a year because she just never settled in. She is now a happy little girl and so different from when had her. Well I am facing that situation again. I have a 5-6 lb yorkie boy that is very sweet and wants to be on my lap 24/7. When I took him in I worked part time and he was happy so things just worked. Now I work 2 part time jobs and he is not happy and started to pee in the house (so I belly band) and when I am not home he is in a x-pen with access to the outside 12x12 covered pen. But he seems so miserable. He barks and whines. I feel so bad. I try to take him on walks and he barks, took him to obedience and he is so happy to be with me he jumps. I can't take him camping because he hates to be alone even with other dogs he barks. I think he has separation anxiety. He is not happy. When he is out in the house with belly band he is better but wants to constantly be in your face. Does anyone have any suggestions. If I can't help him be more content or happy here I think I will need to place him with someone who is home with maybe 1 other dog who can give him the attention he needs and deserves. |

| We have our daughter's adoptive Pommie with us since she still is in college. Will have her for another year until dd is done with rotations. Moxy would be so much happier being the only doggie. I know she is not the happiest here, but we know it will change. For you, not so, unless you re-home. It may be your only choice since it seems as if you have tried all sorts of things. Hugs to you because I know it isn't something you want to do. Have you done a search here on YT about what others say about separation anxiety? That might be an idea. I know that the subject has been discussed. ~Joanne~

The 3 Musketeers Donating Member | I'm looking for a new puppy, but I probably live too far away. Can't figure out how far it is to California from Duluth, MN. I hope that you can find a home for the baby.

| Man I am practically right next door to you. Too bad we are not living in our own home now, otherwise I would take him in. If you want PM me, I have a shop I will let my customers know there is a yorkie up for adoption.

| You can also post in the regional fourm , go to the California section , and place your adoption notice up . He sounds like a very loving little yorkie. I already have 2.

| Don't give up, nothing good comes easy ! I'm in Control. Hi Laura, I just want to encourage you and give you some ideas because I'm sure you love him and finding a new home is your last resort. We all want our dogs happy and to enjoy them and vise versa. I'm working thru some issues with 2 1/2 male yorkie, all of which are trying such as pottytraining ( he wears a bellyband & pad ). Also aggression which started with my 2 cats and now he's scarring kids and some adults. Otherwise he's the cutest most loveable dog to ME. So what I propose is two fold Training, I'm watching the Cesar Millan DVD'S and realize almost anything is possible with knowledge, love and patience and practice. The next idea is if it's possible to get a cat in the house for company. My Amore' only dislikes 1 of my cats it could be worth a try. Lastly follow your heart it won't stear you wrong. In closing these Dog Whisperer training ideas work and I love my dog to much to let him dominate me and become abnoxious, And So I Continue To Work With Him... All furry 4 lbs. Good Luck!

| Thanks for the advice. It does break my heart but we have tried several different things. He has improved some but he stills seems to have issues with being the center of attention. He demands it and does not let up. I have done some research this past week and it appears that he has a lot of aniexty all the time. He has other dogs and cats around but he preferes his people. I think he does not like the competition with the others. I call him my velcro dog I took him to obedience classes and had a behavioralist come to my home, but he seems to have gotten worse since our newest addition is paralized and requires so much attention. I feel really bad for him. I to have potty trainnng issues with him, he also wears a belly band. He is a great little dog with lots of potiental in the right environment. Thanks again, Laura |
