YT Addict | Creating a bad habit Ok I have a question about what I should do. Finley has been home with us for 3 days now. He is stuck like glue to me. Now I don't have a problem with that expect he will not eat his food unless I am standing right there. I don't want to have to stand by him for his whole life to gt him to eat. But if I don't stand by his dish, he will NOT eat. He will not do to the dish at all. I want to make sure he is still eating, but don't want to create a bad habit all ready! Any ideas? |

| hmmm, having 3 chow hounds, so this is not a problem I have. But if he's young still he's probably just not use to being alone when he eats. I'd try moving away after he starts eating. Just a step or two at first and then stand/sit there until he's done. As he gets use to it, just keep moving farther and farther away. I bet he's just a little uncertain of everything still and wants the security of him Momma close by.

| I agree. I used to feed them in their expen and when it was just Hot Rod, he climbed all over me while I held his bowl or had it on my lap. He had the most contorted poses while eating. Now I can sometimes go and do some work in the kitchen while they are eating but if I leave the kitchen, they follow. Usually I will eat my breakfast while they are eating so everything is okay with them.

| I may be mistaken but I think I remember your little guy is quite young? Anyway, when I got Curly I had to hand feed her for about a week and then she started taking to her bowls and going for it on her own. I just stayed close by at first and she got good at it. I think your lil guy just doesn't wanna eat alone yet. |
