| Good dog when we are home, naughty dog when we leave I need some insight. Maddy is trained on pee pee pads. She does really well on them when we are at home. She knows that is where she is supposed to do her business. We keep them on the bathroom floor and she will even stand at the door and wait to go if the door is closed. We were so proud Well, when we leave is a different story. Her "room" when we are at work is my master bathroom. We keep her bed, crate, and toys in there, as well as the pee pads, like always. She will not use the pee pads when she is in the bathroom. She will mess on the floor and then proceed to jump around in it and then smear poop all over the door, walls etc. She doesn't care if it is pee or poop and if she ends up covered in it. This is causing my hubby and I to come home to a destroyed bathroom everyday, not to mention a dirty pup. I thought after a little while she would get used to her room and cut it out. But no luck. The bathroom clean up and giving Maddy a bath every day is getting tiring. How can I change this? Suggestions? |

| Have you thought about crating her while you're gone? Most dogs will not potty in their sleeping area.. that might suffice until you can train her a little better.

| I originally did crate her when I was away. She has no problem going potty in her crate. She never ever sleeps in there and hates her crate actually. She likes my bed and down comforter. |

♥ Mama's Boy ♥ Donating Member | Tobie goes in his kennel when I leave but he still pees and poops in it and will stand in the pee and will be covered in it as well. But he doesn't sleep in it so I don't know if that is why he does it or what. But I know how annoying it is to always have to clean up and clean them when you get home from a long day. |

I know what you mean. And on a side note, Maddy was crate trained in reverse. Meaning, she thinks she is supposed to potty in her crate. She could not figure it out the other way. And I let her go with it. We never have her sleep in there anyways. | |

| Punkin does this, and she's four years old. It's her way of "punishing" us..showing us her displeasure at being left behind when we leave. She was getting TWO baths on Sundays! One for morning service, one for evening service. It was getting very old. We finally decided she hated being crated when we left and have given her free reign of the house all the time. Now her crate is for sleeping at night, or for traveling, and she's happy with that. Since we gave her free reign she's stopped pottying in the house completely. We don't use pee pads, so we make sure she goes outside before we leave and right out as soon as we get home. It's made for much more pleasureable homecomings. |

| Not a good idea free reign .... unless you know you can trust her with everything what might help is if you leave an open crate in the room she stays in so that there is a clear delineation of what is for sleep and what is for waste
