| I hope that is not a sign she will grow into a nasty dog because if that is the case I am headed that way also. SophieKate has been to Puppy training and passed (insert a proud Mommy moment here). With that said she still will bite and growl when she wants to play - I should note she is biting her blanket and making a growling noise. She will still attempt to bite at me sometimes but I use a stern voice and say "No" and put her down or remove her from wherever she is. SophieKate is beginnging to understand when I say "No" I mean it.

| Haha, I had to laugh at the "will grow into a nasty dog" comment. I think that all puppies go through this stage. For Missy, we just said "Ow" or yelped when she bit us, then we would ignore her after. Don't continue to play with her or give her any attention after. She will learn quite quickly that you want nothing to do with the biting/growling. If Missy absolutely refused to stop, then she got a time out. It took a couple of weeks, but she did stop completely and is great now.

| When you're dealing with a puppy you have time to correct or head off this behavior before it gets nasty and the way to do it isn't very far from what you would do with a willful two year old You need to be fair firm and gentle NEVER yell or hit a puppy or else you're going to get a dog that bites Always be consistent .... when you puppy bites it's NO! and he's placed on the floor and you walk away when he growls and barks when you don't want him to it's NO! or No Bark! and if he stops it's Good Dog! and a treat or a toy if he doesn't you say it again and he goes in his crate some puppies like some children are more active or more vocal than others and some will need some extra "attention" But it needs to be thought out and with dogs what sometimes seems like the right thing to do might be exactly the opposite from what will actually help

| Does it cover a female dog (yorkie) that is starting to get aggressive when meeting other females while taking a walk. I am starting to have a big prob with this and I'm trying to figure out how to stop it.

| I would love a copy also. Our 4 month old yorkie is usually very sweet, but sometimes he seems to get very aggressive. He starts to bite and growl. Thanks in advance. kwalden@tvcc.us |
