When you're dealing with a puppy you have time to correct or head off this behavior before it gets nasty
and the way to do it isn't very far from what you would do with a willful two year old
You need to be fair firm and gentle
NEVER yell or hit a puppy or else you're going to get a dog that bites
Always be consistent ....
when you puppy bites it's NO! and he's placed on the floor and you walk away
when he growls and barks when you don't want him to
it's NO! or No Bark! and if he stops it's Good Dog! and a treat or a toy
if he doesn't you say it again and he goes in his crate
some puppies like some children are more active or more vocal than others
and some will need some extra "attention"
But it needs to be thought out and with dogs what sometimes seems like the right thing to do might be exactly the opposite from what will actually help
