| New to yorkietalk and new to yorkie ownership I wrote a nice intro yesterday and don't know what happened. I'm new to yorkie talk and this it the first time I own a yorkie. I've had my baby Chanel for a week. She came from a breeder in Indiana called Andy's gifts of God (mother-daughteryorkies.com). She was born on 11/4/08 and I bought her on 11/21/08. We're not crating her. Instead she's in a playpen at night/for naps. That's where her wee wee pads are, bed and food/water bowls. She's still taking Albon and Forti-cal. She's been eating quite well. Any advice, recommendations are greatly appreciated for us as we are new to owning a yorkie and such a small baby. I had dogs growing up but my fiance is a first time dog owner. Marta |

| Hi there, and wecome to YT ! My Suzi is 9 months old, and she is also my first Yorkie, and Pup ! You have come to the best place for support and wonderful feedback , for you and your new Yorkie ! I got my Suzi last year in May, the day before Mothers Day. My life has been forever changed having her! You will quickly see what a difference it is to have a sweet little baby in your life! I think what your doing is great with her. She is safe and that is what matters the most. Giver her lots of love and attention, she needs to feel secure in her new home and bond with you guys. WHat are you feeding her? Is she a good eater? Have you taken her to the vet yet? Taking her to the vet is very important so you know she is a healthy puppy with NO underlying medical conditions. Also, with such a little pup, you have to make certain she is eating regulary so she will not have a Hypo. eposoide. Anther thing, my Suzi has just caught on after months of pee pad training her to poop on the pad as well. It takes a enormous amout of patience when training these littel guys, but, they will be sucessful.

| She's an excellent eater! I've been feeding her Eukanuba that the breeder provided and yesterday I mixed in Pro Plan for Small Breed Puppy food. She really liked it and gobbled it up (maybe even too fast) I keep food out for her at all times and she eats when she wants. I'm taking her to the vet this week for her 9 week shot and checkup. She went to the vet on 12/22 with the breeder and she checked out fine (I have the original from the vet, whom I called and confirmed he saw her). She goes on wee wee pads only when she's in her play pen. When she's out and about the house she goes whereever she is. But I've put couple of pads around the house for now so that she gets used to going on them. Slowly I'll take them away. I definitely need to learn how to train her. We don't have any carpets at home so its not too big of a deal but we also don't want her pee and poop to sink into the hardwood. I'll be reading through all the posts to hopefully find lots of helpful tips!

| I have wood floors too. I am home most of the day...so we go outside a lot, but we have washable pee-pads down in several areas of the house. LilyGrace had a problem w/ using the front door mat as a pee pad for awhile....sigh....potty training is a learning process...it may take awhile, but it will get there. I remember reading somewhere that if an accident occurs on the wood floor, that you can use vinegar to take the smell out, so therefore, there will be no other accidents in that spot....I do not think I have ever used that before.
