| Yorkies ears falling over Hello, This is my first post, I have been lurking and reading all the great information on this site. I have a 4 month old male Yorkie named Romeo. He is really a great puppy and has been a joy to have in my life. Romeo has ears that stick straight up in the air, that is how he came to us as a pup. However, in the last two days one of his ears has started to flop over. Is there something I should/can do to prevent this? I really like the way he looks with them both up. Also, when something gets his attention, the floppy ear will still go up, so I guess he can still move it. Thanks in advance for any advice. |

| Some have mentioned that you can tape the ear up....so that it will train it....not sure how to do it....I have heard that works!! So if all else fails...try tape...hehe

| lol no you didn't break them Welcome to YorkieTalk! I'd wait a little while to see if they will go up on their own, if not you can have the shaved, and this should make it work.. if it doesn't, then you will also need to tape them. My youger girl, Evie, had this issue of her ears going up and down, I tried shaving them, but it didn't work (I guess her ears are too big, hehe).. I didn't tape them cause I fell in love with her cute floppy ears. lol. She can still make them stand whenever she wants, but for the most part, they're almost always flopped.

| Has anyone every heard of this? On my last litter for awhile all the puppies ears are almost standing erect. Their ear leather is thin and the ears are small... Yahooo!!!! Mom and Dad's ears are stading straight up to the moon...LOL Mom's ears are a tad larger than dads. Has anyone ever heard that if the puppy's ears are not totally standing up at 6 weeks they are not going to be errect? I never heard that before and one of my buyers asked me that question and I told her I did not agree with the breeder that told her that, and I kept thinking about all my of my puppies ears and I know that all these will stand and she will bring her by Monday and I will shave Yogi's ears again. Has anyone ever heard that before. I have read many things, but never heard of that before.

| Aurora is going to be 2 in Jan and she has never held her ears up. When shaved she will hold them up part way. My mom tells her to hold them up and to have yorkie ears all the time.....she tries but can't ever get them up all the way. I gave up a long time ago and I just let her be herself. If she wants her ears flopping, then I guess they will flop. LOL

| Four out of six pups we had, held their ears up around 14 weeks. The others around 12. I did shave the triangle tip and the hair on the sides. This made them more Perky... |

| How To Tape Westie Floppy Ears Here's a website showing how to tape up Westie ears. I found another one that showed a Yorkie and masking tape, which is what I'm trying now. Just lay a flat piece of new wide masking tape behind the ear and lay another a little shorter on the front, then bend the tape over to stick on the other piece. Hope that makes some sort of sense. Good luck!

| Holly's ears were up when I got her at 12 weeks. Then they went down. I taped them. They went up for awhile. Then one went down. I taped it, no luck. The other went down. I taped both. They stayed up for all of a day when the tape came off. They have been down ever since. I kind of like them down, it makes her look like a puppy still. I have always kept her ears shaved, I guess she just has heavy ears.
