| Hello yorkie lovers Hello All, My name is GSBelle, I am new here. On Columbus day I got an 8 1/2 week old female yorkie puppy named Ally. She has stolen my heart. She has the best temperment and personality. Housebreaking is going okay. But any tips are welcome. Thanks Belle |

| Congrats! Yorkies are great companions and you'll fall in love with them more than you imagined. At that age, she'll be teething soon, so make sure you have teething toys and expect that your fingers and toes will be her favorites - hang in there with that. There is a wealth of knowledge here and you'll find this to be very helpful. Welcome...

I am a new yorkie owner myself. Her name is Fiona and she will be 7 months old on the 29th of this month! First, are you crate training your new puppy!? Many people think crate training is harsh, but, I live for it! I think its a great thing! As far as potty training goes, as soon as you take her out of the crate in the am, first thing is to take her outside. When she is out there, and going to the bathroom, you can come up with a command word. Make sure that EVERYONE in your household is using the same word, and be CONSISTANT! When Fiona would start to urinate i would say in a high pitched toned voice " Good PEE PEE, good girl? and then really let her know she did the right thing. You only wanna say the word when they are in the act of doing it, not before, not after<~~~~ that is key! And when she would deficate I would say " Good poopy, good girl" I have her basically on command now, so it makes potty time outside, go faster! She only had 2 accidents on TILED floor when I first got her. They say that yorkies are really hard to potty train, but I don't agree, since Fiona did such a great time doing so! Just be patient, consistant, and really reward her! GOOD LUCK!

| wonderful welcome Thank you all for the warm welcome, and the tips I received. Ally seems to be teething already. And we have had many accidents in the house. I hope to have better potty training results later. Thanks again, Belle |

| Hi and welcome to YT. Good luck with your new puppy. House breaking a puppy takes time and patience as you probably already know A special treat when she potty's outside is a must. This treat should be used only for outdoor's so she looks forward to it. Right outdoors 10 mins after drinking water will help also. Praise, praise and more praise when she does go outdoors. You'll get lot's of help here as needed. Enjoy and congratulations on your new baby. |
