| Housebreaking a Yorkie Is it any harder to housebreak a 9 month old Yorkie as opposed to one 3 months old? I'm going to look at puppies and the breeder has one 9 months old that he was going to show but he's a little too tall so he's going to sell him. He also has puppies that will be ready in 6 weeks. Check out his dogs at Rama Yorkies. I'm so excited!!!

| Hmmm, at 9 months has the dog been crate trained or anything? If so you may want to stick with whatever the current owner has already been doing. Just a thought. |

| It might even be easier at 9 months since they are older and more mature. |

| I love this breeders site Its so refreshing to see a site like this. He obviously not only cares for his dogs but the yorkie breed in general. I like this guy and if he truly is genuine then I think any dog that has spent 9 months with him will be a good well loved dog I got my OESD when he was 6 months old and he wasn't housebroken or trained in any way. I was to become his 4th owner within just 2 months he was a joy to own, he's been with us 6 years this November! Are you able to go to his home to meet the pup in question?

| i think its easier just becasue he might possibly be able to hold his bladder for longer.. i got mitzy at 4 months and she took maybe a week tops to be crate trained and we only have accidents when mommy is neglectful

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Wow, I'll bet you are excited, I have found that older dogs are very easy to house train, I would want to get a dog that age fixed as soon as possible because of "marking". Many people think marking is peeing, and it's not the same thing. A dog marks it's territory to give off his scent for other dogs. It's like a calling card. Unneutered males have a much stronger odor than neutered males, and if fixed soon enough won't mark in the house. Most male dogs will mark outside, but dog owners don't mind this, it's the marking inside that people hate, and many people confuse this with peeing. Congratulations, on whatever you decide, it looks like that breeder has some beautiful dogs.

| Right now the breeder is in Naples Fl and won't be back home for 2 weeks. His sister is taking care of the dogs so I'll have to wait to see him. I'm sure the dog has had some training, just don't know how much. The breeder tells me he is a very sweet dog and he's going to e-mail me a picture. Dh had rather have an older dog and to be truthful, we haven't had a pup in so many years that I'm nervous thinking about caring for a younger one.

Don't mean to hijack a thread, but thought this was as good of a place as any to say...Bernie 8 mo and Baxter 7 months were neutered last week just because of the marking. Bernie had not started but Baxter had marked in the house about 10 times. Now since being neutered, that is cut back to almost not at all. Once again Nancy is right!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Oh my goodness, he's truly remarkable, his legs are perfect, his body looks like a perfect little square, which is my very favorite type. His coloring is absolutely beautiful too. I would get this little guy in a split second; I think he's absolutely stunning. Wow! Those eye, it looks like he has plenty of personality too!
