| Hi Stephanie and welcome to YT! Yorkies are very picky eaters. I cannot vouch for that because I have a little piglet, who will suck up anything. But many members have picky eaters. I personally wouldn't recommend soft food because it's bad for their teeth. I'm lucky because Coco doesn't even like soft food, but I would say Innova and Nature's balance are great. I would have some nutrical handy for when he's not eating well so he doesn't have a hipoglycemic episode.

| Dennis is a very good eater, 4 poops from 7 to 11 - Am! He is always munching on his little bites Science Diet. I tried another brand when I first got him and he just would not eat it. The Vet gave me Science Diet when he got his first shots and I was reluctant because so many here had bad things to say, but he likes it, so.... I also give him mighty dog and cottage cheese ocassionally. Dennis is my 4th Yorkie and so far he is not all that picky. All my girls would only ocassionally want to change for a day or two, but were not in my opinion picky! Sue |

| I wouldn't jump in to feeding him soft food. It will cause him more problems in the long run. I feed mine Science Diet Nature's Best puppy food. You have to remember that their tummies are very very tiny. Is yours a pup? No healthy dog will starve itsself to death. They will go as long as they can to try and get you trained right however! Don't cave in. I doubt his little ribs are sticking out. Also, if you are giving a lot of treats he won't be hungry enough to eat. |

| don't worry. Just pick a food that your dog will like to eat out of your hands and just leave it for him consistently. i had the same problem with archie and my vet recommended that I just keep food out all the time and not try to force him to eat, and to keep feeding the same thing everyday. Dogs don't starve themselves. They do eat. Even if it looks like he's not eating, if he's going to the bathroom, it's an obvious sign that he is eating. |

| I learned my lesson with my first Yorkie, no can food if you want them to have healthy teeth. So I agree with the statements above. Can food is mostly water anyways.

| Try adding some cottage cheese to the dry food mine love it. I buy the cottage cheese that is lactose free and low fat. Sometime ill mix in some mighty dog and they love that too lol... Smiles, Myra |

| Chachi, I have been feeling so guilty over feeding Pita the Lil Cesars, cuz she loves it and won't eat anything else!! I'm glad I'm not the only one! It has by products in it and I know it's not considered "high quality" but at least she's eating something! |

| I learned my lesson too with my toy poodle. We lived next door to my grandparents who watched him during the day. They just would not listen when I told them he was not supposed to eat their dog's canned food. When we moved away, I kept giving it to him because it's all he would eat. In hindsight, I should have tried harder... He had terrible teeth though and the vet ended up pulling most of them by the time we lost him at 15 years. Toy breeds have a tendency to have teeth issues so I am very strict in giving Tatum dry food only - even mostly crunchy treats too with the occasional soft treat.

| Soft Food Matise is a very picky eater. He only eats soft food. So I feed him Hills Science Diet Prescription Diet I/D can (not the dry because it does have by-products in it) the vet said it is a complete nutrition diet and doesn't have animal by-products. He loves it. And I feel he is getting a complete diet with no animal by-products. I know that because I give him soft food I make sure that he has non-edible toys that help clean his teeth and I will have to keep an eye on them and take him in for regular teeth cleanings. this is the ingredients list if you are curious. Ingredients Water, egg product, turkey, rice, corn meal, pork liver, soy fiber, taurine, minerals (dicalcium phosphate, potassium chloride, salt, calcium carbonate, zinc oxide, ferrous sulfate, copper sulfate, manganous oxide, calcium iodate, sodium selenite), vitamins (choline chloride, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, thiamine mononitrate, niacin, calcium pantothenate, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, folic acid, biotin, vitamin B12 supplement).
