| Pet store??? I know what everybody thinks of pet store pups. but I have a question about this one. Theres a pet store that I drive by daily. Out front is a sign that says the puppies are here!!! Today out of curiousity I stopped to look around.. Thers was several small breeds. 2 Min Pins 1 pekeniese 2 pugs 1 cocker . the cages were fairly large and clean. No air conditioner in the dog room but there was an open window with a fan . The room was pretty comfortable. there was another room off this one with no windows and I could hear puppy sounds through the door.. I asked about other puppies Yorkies for one. I was told they had a litter of Yorkies in the other room that were not old enough yet. They would be ready in another week.. What does anyone think of this kind of set up ? |

| Where are the puppies coming from? IMO no responsible breeder would sell their dogs to a pet store so that they can go to any random person willing to pay money for them. Good breeders have a responsibility to the dogs they breed, to make sure that each one of their babies is going to a safe home where they will be loved and taken care of and most breeders also state in their contracts that the dogs MUST go back to the breeder if the owners cannot keep them. The conditions in the pet store may seem better than most, but if you think of what kind of "breeder" is letting a pet store give them money for their dogs to get them off their hands, they're probably not giving the best care and attention to breeding lines, genetic testing, and health guarantees. Most likely these puppies still come from puppy mills and could be very sickly.

| I don't think much of it! Ask them where their puppies come from. If the puppies aren't ready yet, I'll bet they aren't with their mom, either.

| Actually what I was really thinking of is that it sounds like they may be breeding them right there at the pet store?? It just seems strange to me.. |

| They are not breeders because there is also one in CA. I would't buy from there.

| The puppies not being ready yet? That is not right. I think they are keeping them in the back untill the other puppies are sold . Then, they probably will charge a much larger fee for them. I'd ask where the puppies are from? AND how old they are? I just do not like the sound of that... It makes you wonder what's really going on in there?

| It really sounds fishy to me. I would never buy a pup from a pet store, and I think if your asking you have a gut feeling that something isn't right. Follow your gut instincts.

| its a pet store! do not buy from them. pet store puppies come from puppymills, period. I do not think they are breeding those dogs "in the back"--they are running a store, they do not have time to breed several breeds of puppies at the same time |
