Where are the puppies coming from? IMO no responsible breeder would sell their dogs to a pet store so that they can go to any random person willing to pay money for them. Good breeders have a responsibility to the dogs they breed, to make sure that each one of their babies is going to a safe home where they will be loved and taken care of and most breeders also state in their contracts that the dogs MUST go back to the breeder if the owners cannot keep them.
The conditions in the pet store may seem better than most, but if you think of what kind of "breeder" is letting a pet store give them money for their dogs to get them off their hands, they're probably not giving the best care and attention to breeding lines, genetic testing, and health guarantees. Most likely these puppies still come from puppy mills and could be very sickly.
