| Introducing Pheobe Franchesca Hello to all!!!! Little Pheobe came into our lives this past weekend. She is precious and is already so smart. Thank all of you on yorkie talk so much for all of your posts. This is my first post, but I have learned so much from all of your experience. I do have one question. Pheobe is 10 weeks old. When do I need to take her to be groomed. I know it would be good to go on an introduce her early to the groomer. Right now, I don't know if there is enough grooming to be done to justify taking her. Anyway, if any of you remember about how old your puppy was when taking them, please let me know! |

| Welcome to YT! I love your baby's name. I took my babies to the groomers as soon as they completed all their vaccinations. I didn't want to take any chances. But I did read that you could start snipping with the scissors, even if you're not cutting anything, so they get accustomed to the sound. But I'm not an expert and I'm sure you'll get plenty of good advice from YTers. Enjoy!

| Welcome to YT You might want to wait on taking her to any groomers until she has had all of her vaccinations. She looks so adorable. congradulations

| Hello and welcome I started Lucy at the groomers as soon as she had her shots. The first time they just washed her and loved all over her, then went from there. She doesn't mind the groomer at all I think Lexie Blue's suggestion is a great one. I would have never thought of that

| Welcome to YT! Phoebe is adorable!!! Bella will be 15 weeks on Saturday and I took her to the groomers at 12 weeks. I spoke to my vet and she gave her the nasal spray stuff to prevent her from picking up anything from the groomers. I'm just drawing a blank on what its' called right now. Anyway my vet has a groomer that comes into her office so her patients will feel better about taking their pet to be groomed. Of course by doing it this way the waiting list is LONG to get in to see her, but it can ease alot of concerns. Ask your vet for recommendations, they may be able to offer some advice. Anyway, I ended up taking Bella to a groomer near Cincinnati since I was going to be up there and I LOVED him. So much that I'm taking Bella up there to be groomed. He had 5 yorkies at one point and knew exactly what I wanted and how to make me feel better about leaving Bella there with a stranger. So when I went back to get her, he said she had done fine. The only problem she had was with the grooming of the face area. He suggested when I am up there (about every other weekend) to drop in and he will groom her face to get her use to it. He said he would do it at no charge and trim her nails for free. You can see why I was so thrilled. Add to that he was beyond reasonably priced, so even with rising gas prices it's still worth it for me. Good luck finding a groomer.

| Hi, your baby Pheobe is beautiful! I am a groomer and this is what I usually recomend. As soon as your baby is finished with all of her shots, go ahead and carry her to the groomer. Even if she just gets a bath, nails clipped and ears trimmed the first time. It is good to go ahead and get her used to the new place and new noises early. It is alot easier to hold and reassure a squirming 16 week old puppy than it is a 10 month old puppy! I would also recomend that you play with her feet and ears while you are playing with her. This will get her used to those areas being touched and handled, and cause her to be much less stressed at her first grooming visit. Good luck!
