| Yorkie & Doberman My Gf´s convinced me getting our Yorkie, wich i love now, the little brat already has been with us for 4 months , he´s 6 months old now. Anyway i just love Dobermans the ideia of owning one has grown on me since forever, but i never planed to have animals before , until my gf´s after months & years pestering me i gave in , and our Yorkie came into our life. To make it short, im planning to get a Doberman puppy will there be any problems him and our Yorkie getting along. Would love to see them as best friends. Anyone mind to share the experience of big dogs like doberman´s getting along with yorkies. |

| My personal opinion is that if they grow up together, then they will,in all likely hood, become the best of friends and be inseparable. The doberman will have to be watched closely and taught to play gently with the yorkie but I think they would be fine.

| I agree... my 95 lb. lab was raised inside with my little ones and she has no idea she even is a big dog.. hehe... They are the best of pals, and Laci(lab) is very careful around the little ones. I do, however, SEPARATE them anytime I am unable to watch them, just in case. Big dogs often have no sense of when they are "too rough" for the little ones. Good Luck d

| I had a Rottie when I got my Yorkies. She was raised with a Mini Poodle, who she thoght was her mom. So, I agree with th epreious poster. If they are raised with them and taught to be gentle, it should be fine. But, you want to keep a close eye, because like other poster also said, they can smetimes not know their own strength, especially a great galumphing Dobie puppy at 5-6 months of age who is all legs and clumsiness. My Raven was super smart and learned very quickly. Please be sure you do not bring one home any less than 8-10 weeks of age, as they learn that most important bite inhibition at this age from brothers and sisters. |

| A good friend of mine has a yorkie, maltese, doberman and greyhound. They are extremely gentle even around my little ones who half of them are smaller than her smalles ones. The one BIG rule with getting a larger pup when you have little ones is TRAINING. They need alot of training which will not only be good for your yorkie but for you as well. Remember the more trained a dog is the happier the dog is. So if you are willing to put up with the training and hard work I say go for it |
