| Good morning and to YT. You'll love it here, so much info and fun things too. Scooter was 4 when I adopted him so I can't help you out on the needs of puppies but someone will be along to help you.

| Along with the above poster, I would get a toy that could kinda be a security blanket for you little one. Hubby picked out a flat sherpa lamp at petsmart (that I thought was too big), well I put it in his crate from day one and he still til this day LOVES it. He gnaws and gnaws on its tail! He drags it up to my lap when he goes into his nightly routine of getting ready for bed. He turns to it throughout the day, but mostly at night. I also had gotten him a little turtle that he still LOVES...I just had to go and buy 3 more (for safekeeping too) cause he has chewed up and through the first one. I guess since it was his first real toy he identifies with it. I also had a few of those squishy pillows...he LOVES those too. It is so funny to see him digging to make it just right to lay on. Just give you little one lots of attention and love and you'll be fine! Oh, and bitter apple for chewing on things you don't want her/him too. Can't wait to see pictures! congrats! Boy or Girl?

I will be getting a boy and he will be 11 weeks when I get him. I've never been around something so tiny, so it makes me nervous!

YT 2000 Club Member | Congratulations. I would suggest that you get a blanket to have mom scent on it for his first nights in his new home. I really think this helped Jeter be comfortable on his first few nights in our house. He did not cry at all. Also puppy proof your home. Grooming brush/comb shampoo and conditioner. I also suggest that you go to your library and get a few books on puppy training and Yorkie books. I really liked "The Dog Bible" " Puppies for Dummies" "Yorkies for Dummies" basically I checked out all Yorkie and puppy books they had and I rote down the names of the ones I liked best and then went and bought them so I could have on hand. I did not follow one book, instead I took what I liked from them all and used methods of training that I thought would work best for my family. Also I suggest reading some of the stickies on YT, they are very informative Best wishes to you!

The only suggestions I have would be - go ahead and find your vet. It sounds silly but most vets will let you have a chat with them so you can see if you are comfortable with them. I interviewed 4 different vets and ended up going with the friend recommended and first one I interviewed. She's great and loves my Bella and takes extremely good care of her when she has to go in for shots. Bella's only 14 weeks old but I am definitely an overprotected Momma. The next would be to have a notebook handy - sounds silly but if you scrapbook and want to keep things fresh in your mind write it down when it happens. Another thing is you can keep questions going for your vet or YT. I do this and my vet laughs when I go to see her because I always have about 10 or so questions. And finally I would see if your breeder would mind you giving your puppy a toy or blankie now. That way the puppy can get use to it and get Momma's scent on it. I did this and it was a God send. Good luck and I can't wait to see pictures of your baby. | |
