| Question about male & female dogs Ok. This is the first time in our life having 2 dogs at the same time. It is also the first time for us having a female dog. I have a 3 year old male Sheltie (Neo) and a 4 mo. old female Yorkie (Chloe). They seem to be getting along okay, but my Sheltie won't leave Chloe alone! He is constantly sniffing her rear and licking her. She doesn't really seem to mind, but my family and I can't stand it! Does the male dog ever get over this? He is not neutered, but I will be getting Chloe spayed at around 6 mos. of age. Is it just because she smells like a girl? Will spaying her calm my male dog down? Is there anything I can do in the mean time to get him to stop licking her!? HELP please. Thanks

| The only thing you can do is get her fixed since he is not. I have two females abd one of them acts like the male she even humps on Lilli so it is normal and it will get better over time but it will always be like that its because he is not fixed and she might be getting ready to have her first heat. So watch out! |

| My male dog licks my male yorkie. It is soooo annoying. All I do is say no and pick up Luca Dean and put him in my lap. The licker was recently neutered, but a lot of it is leftover hormones I guess. The sniffing is all part of getting to know the dog, but when they start licking I draw the line. I hate when company comes and they see that. Spaying her may help. The male/male or female/female humping is a way for the humping dog to try and gain dominance ... it's not unusual when a new dog is introduced. It's just really annoying. |
