| this is driving me nuts !!! this really does drive me nuts !! our yorkie pup of 7 months loves being out, the car going shopping, meeting people etc, but the problem is as soon as I get her lead and harness out she runs and hides !! Usually into the garden, so i end up chasing her round and round trying to catch her. It infuriates me and I end up leaving her behind, iv e tried enticing her ignoring her, etc anyone would think she hates going out but she does nt, we have changed her harness recently but she was doing this before !!! help |

| How does she act when you get the harness on her? What if you were to pick her up and carry her out to the car, then put it on her?

| Tink use to be a 'little monkey' when we called her to go out too. She LOVES going out for walks, but did not understand the 'bit' about getting her harness on. So..... I started calling....Tink Come! and when she 'come' there was a little treat for her. She soon got the idea that when she came on me calling 'come' she got a treat, got called a good girl and a big fuss. I have found Tink really easy to train, good luck!

My little Shadow Donating YT Member | I wish you the best....I guess trial & error to get her accustomed. We always say "you wanna go bye bye?". She got use to that & finally associated the harness/leash with saying it. Now she gets excited when she sees me getting out her harness. You'd better then not disappoint her by not taking her to go bye bye. Good Luck!

Maybe start rewarding her when she does come to you, or when you get the harness on her, give her a little treat.

| Try grabbing HER before anything else. Put her harness and lead on, then give her a treat. Do that a few times, so she begins to associate the harness with treats. NEVER EVER chase, it's all a game to them, they're terriers and were bred to chase Make her chase YOU She'll get it eventually

| being fairly new to the site I don't want to butt in......but with Roscoe I keep saying "you wanna go out side" more and more excitedly while I get his lead and by the time I'm about to put it on him he's so excited he does his two legged dance until he looks like a kangaroo........and i'm pretty sure he doesn't even know why we are both excited but it seems to work......good luck |

| I used to have to chase one of mine to give her a bath, until I saw the dog whisperer say you should make them come to you. I just sit down and wait while encouraging her.The first couple of time it took a while but now she comes to me. I think this would work in this situation too. Sometimes even when they like something their fear takes over.
