YT 2000 Club Member | Posting For My Sistyer, Coco's Sick HELP! My sister just called me, (she has trouble being able to post here) anyhow, she took Coco out this morning at 7:00 and he vomited, she said it was yellow foamy looking. Then at 8:00 this AM he ate some Wellness Puppy food, at 12:00 he went out to the potty and when she brought him in, he puked again, this time it was clear. Two things that worry me is, she said she found some dog feces in her yard that she knows wasn't Coco's (it was way to big to be his) but it looked like some of it had been eaten. The other thing that worries me is, she said yesterday he ate some of her plant outside, she said she's not sure is he swallowed any of it. The name of the plant is: Spathiphyllum, is this plant toxic? My suggestion to her was to get a hold of her vet right away and to give him some Kayro or Nutrical, but I don't even know (now that I know he ate a plant) if that is the right thing for her to do. He hasn't eaten since 8 this AM. What's a good canned puppy food she could try and give him, or should she even do that, or should she try the boiled rice and skinless boneless chicken? I still think the best thing she could do would be to go to the vet right away. He's 4 months old.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | The yellow foam was stomach bile. Puppies will throw up stomach bile when their tummies are empty. My 2 year old, Ramsey, still will do this if she doesn't eat. I don't believe eating any plant yesterday had anything to do with vomiting today. Were it toxic...the reaction would've been last night. Not 24 hours later. Food goes through a dog's digestive tract much faster than a human. Same with the eating poop. Not good for them...but it happens. Rice and boiled chicken will help settle his stomach.

YT 2000 Club Member | Thanks for the reply ladies, it's much appreciated. I just got off the phone with my vet, they gave me the number for the national poison control center and I called and talked to them. They said the plant releases Calcium Oxolate Crystals into the mouth and him being sick like this could be related and to take him to the vet. The regular name for the plat is "Peace Lilly" the other is the scientific or whatever name. I called and gave the info to my sister and she's calling her vet right now.

YT 2000 Club Member | My sister called her vet, he said just to keep an eye on him cause he seems to be doing ok but to go ahead and give him nutrical or kayro & if he gets worse, bring him in, if it's after hours go to the ER vet with him. My sister said he's running around playing and stuff so I'm assuming he's feeling a bit better.

| I found this and thought I'd post it here: What are oxalate-crystals and how dangerous are the plants that contain them? Of the calls about plants to the poison center, one in five involves plants containing oxalate crystals. Oxalate-containing plants have microscopic crystals in the juice or sap. These crystals look like tiny needles or splinters of glass. When these plants are chewed, intense mouth pain and irritation can result. CPCS: Know Your Plants

| Well, they can't talk, but I thought you might want to have some idea of what he is feeling.
