| Funny Smell....... Around where Maximus is wearing his e-collar smells funny....his whole head area smells kind of yeasty(sp)..I checked his ears (smelled and looked inside)..they smell pretty normal, there is no dirt or particles in there and they are of normal color?? Could he be getting an ear infection and it is just the beginning, or can the ecollar make them smell kinda stinky?? Maximus has been pawing his neck/face area but I just assumed because the ecollar is annoying...but could he be getting some type of infection (maybe from the antibiotics he got during surgery?)...when I was combing him today and I took the collar off...I actually really noticed the smell...could it be maybe he is gettign sweaty around the collar??

| I bet it's just smelly sweat. But just to be sure, call the vet. But I can imagine something like that causing irritation and sweat.

| Dogs only sweat through their nose and the pads of their feet + panting, so that is definetly not it... A yeast infection in the ear would have to be pretty bad to smell. Bruce had a slight ear infection from moisture somehow getting in and I barely noticed other than him scratching his ear. If he has a yeast infection in the ear you should be able to see or lightly swab and see brownish/black ear wax build up (more than a dog would have normally)... My guess is that it is due to the medications he has had. Things like that tend to seep out pores and it is unpleasant but probably not harmful. |

| I would call the vet-- depending on what type of surgery he had done who knows. They would be able to tell you if this should be a concern. Sue |

| Thanks...he smells kinda chessy..I can't really place the smell..BUT not good...the vet said if I want to bring him in..but I feel like he's been tortured enough the last few days maybe I should let him heal and see if the smell goes away...but if it's an infection I wanted to get it taken care of ASAP!!!..Thanks!!

Try smelling his eye area where the tears are. Sometimes they smell kinda funny. Area needs to be washed daily or everyother day with no rince shampoo. Smiles, Myra | |

| Thanks...I will smell tonight...I wash him down with puppywipes and a wash washcloth on his face daily...but since his surgery I haven't really touched any area above the e-collar..and I have just been brushing him along his back so he won't matt...but that is probably it..THANKS!!!!
