Donating YT 500 Club Member | This jumping thing I've read over and over about how bad it is for Yorkie's to jump off things, etc. Guinness has NO fear, he will climb stuff, jump off stuff and springs off his feet on the tile in our home like a jumping bean. He gets some good air and at times he falls flat. Yesterday while I was unloading/loading the dishwasher he leaped onto the door as it was laid down, pushed the bottom part back in and tried to steal one of my kids little plastic forks! He's such a ham. I kept putting him down and he'd leap back up so I stopped and played with him and finished up later. He just seems to be a stocky fearless puppy. Should I worry or just let him take the lead to what he's capable of?

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | I ask myself this all the time. Diggy stands and jumps straight up and down hard to explain, but he also leaps off of everything he doesnt just jump down he pushed out like like he is flying through the air like superman. I worry about it too I did ask my vet and they say just let them go....nothing much you can do. I try to stop it as much as possible with Doggie stairs but he just jumps over them....good luck!

| Jumping can be dangerous but puppies will be puppies. I know of a 5 month old puppy that jumped off the back of a couch, hit her head on the floor and died. Another one I hear of was running and playing and ran smack into a coffee table and died. I think eventually too much jumping does take a toll on their knees. Puppies love to run, jump and play but freak accidents do happen. We just have to hope and pray they will stay out of harms way. |

| No wonder I have high blood pressure. Kayla is like a mountain goat. Your right, they have no fear of height. Now she is trying to figure out a way to jump up on this chair we have that is also a rocker. Scares me to death because she could get hurt bad so easy. My husband told me not to try to stop her right when she was doing something like that because I could cause her to fall. She seems pretty sure footed. Also, I have had to get rid of nearly everything I had that was wicker. Another way she is like a goat. She will chew up anything. Mind???? She looks at me like I'm crazy and just keeps on keeping on. HELP CEASAR!!!!! |

| Jumping I call Tootsie Sylvia McBoing Boing. she will take a flying leap off of the top of the couch and land on the top of the nearby love seat, from there, she will leap onto the coffee table. She thinks she is superwoman. I don't know whether she is showing off, or what.My husband has asked more than once, what is with her? She does some of the most fool hardy things, with no fear. Her little brother Teddy, is much more cautious, and at least thinks before he leaps. |

| We call my jumper, Bailey Beans, cuz she's like a jumping bean. I love it when she stands on her hind legs and hops, it looks like she's dancing. She's good enough to be on "Dancing with the Stars!" |

| I'd say baby-proof your house as much as possible. If they want to jump off the back of the couch, string a net up behind it (badminton net might work). If they jump off tables, put a sponge pad under it or those sponge tiles they use for kids gyms around it. Put bumpers on the table legs (you can buy the foam pipe insulation for cheap and just cut it open). I'm thinking of putting a decorative macrame type net from our banister overlooking the landing up to the ceiling. It's a 12 foot fall down to the landing. |
