| Worried about my little 13 week old girl...PLEASE HELP. Sadie is 13 weeks old. She weighs 2 pounds 6 oz... She had bloat a few weeks ago and bloat can be fatal so now I'm scared. the vet told me feed her about 2 teaspoons every 4 hours...He said her tummy is the size of a walnut... She is on wellness canned, but likes the wellness kibble also. When ever she eats her tummy is so full!!!! I mean like she has no waist. I would not even blink at this except when she had bloat and her belly was so big, now I am afraid she will over eat again! She goobles her food up like crazy, most of the time she eats it all. Two teaspoons is such a tiny amount and every four hours is not that often...Do female yorkies have more of a little round tummy then males? SHe has gained 8 oz in 3 weeks. Does this sound like she is getting the right amount? I just want to double check cause I am worried about her.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Dixie is almost 7 months old and weighs 2 lbs 2 ounces. I am feeding her one teaspoon every 4 hours, nightime included. When I was feeding her more she was throwing up so I backed her off a little. SHe feels like she has gained a tiny bit. She stopped eating her kibble so is only eating wet. She won't eat any treats either. She has advanced kidney failure so I think that is why she isn't eating so well. It sounds like you are feeding her enough, maybe your vet can help you determine what would be appropriate . Also has she been checked for worms? That can cause a round tummy in puppies. Hope some people respond who can help you better.

| Yes she was checked for worms and every thing else it seems... She had exrays, ultra sound and blood work done! For those that don't know what bloat is here is a link.... all dog owners should at least know about it. If a dog over eats enough it can be a very bad thing indeed. Sadies stomach didn't flicp or split thank GOD!!! But she really have the big tummy and the vet went through all the testing just to be sure....

| I have always free fed mine, the youngest is a little over 5 mos now, but, she will eat a little out of her bowl, then will put her paws on me, that either means she wants me to feed her out of my hand, or she wants me to put a handful of food on the floor, or she wants me to throw them.. If I don't get it right, she won't stop pawing at my leg until I do...Maybe you can play with her and throw a piece and let her get it, this way she can't eat it fast.. |

| Don't worry your little one is not having "bloat" this is something that is more common in Large breeds like rotti's, great danes, mastiffs, etc. A friend of mine lost his rottie do to bloating. What your little one is experiencing is what my little one Penny went through when she was a puppy. Usually after she pooped it it went down. And yes females have rounder a tummy. If you are scared she is going to eat to fast hand feed her one kibble at a time so she gets used to eating slowly. Most puppies (depending where you got them etc breeder, petstore, shelter) will have the mind set of "I need to eat as can before everyone else eats it all." Try it and let us know how she does.h |

| Thanks for the input... She came from a breeder and at first her eating habits were fine...But since she was sick she is such a little piggy!!! There seems to be no end to how much she will eat! Free feeding with Chewy around is tough cause he wants her food and she wants his! I almost wish I could mix the puppy food and chewy's adult food and let them both eat both!!! But I know they have puppy food and adult food for a reason!
