| SOMEONE TELL ME NOT TO DO IT!!!!! <please> RE: the following thread about the "hairless Yorkie" http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=106803 Ugh.... I am just heartsick over this little guy.... he has such sadness in his eyes... I never should have looked at this post.... A part of me wants to just pass him by, in hopes that "someone else" will stand up for him and take on what is sure to be a multitude of health problems - and maybe even an extremely shortened lifespan due to his "blue born" genetic problems - or possibly facing a reality of euthanasia if he develops the VERY PAINFUL "elephant skin" condition - not to mention possible temperament issues (which is the least of concerns, but a concern, still... with children and other furbutts in the house) if he has indeed spent the past 16 weeks of his life in a puppy mill environment.... And let's not even THINK about the financial strain it's been with the unexpected expense of the furfaces I ALREADY have comitted myself to caring for.... and knowing that this little guy will undoubtedly bring with him an even bigger financial burden (which I am really not in the position of funding alone).... But then there's that "other" part.... that BIGGER part of me... that wants to bring this amazingly beautiful (to me, he is) little baby boy home where we can hold him close and care for him.... and fight our hardest to assure that he never wants for anything again! That he never has to endure a single lonely moment... never needs to feel threatened or unsafe... and learns the love of a family (both fur and skin) of his very own!! True, I don't NEED another animal in the house... in fact, I already have what city ordinance will allow... but (I know, all these "but's"!!) Even if we were to bring little Jerry (he SO needs a new name!) home long enough to place him in a breed specific rescue if need be... or with another family.... it would HAVE to be better than being the "poster child" of ill health on puppyfind.com!! I haven't even held him, but this special little creature holds my heart already!!! Ugh!!! Talk quick, people..... I've already contacted his "mom".....

| I think your a great person for caring so much, and if you feel in your heart you can give him all the love he needs then I'd go for it.

| i think that would be a very courageous thing to do. i have nothing but respect for people like you... the world needs more!!! i guess you sorta want someone to say no but i think you'd be the perfect mommy for this little guy. i can't even look at the pictures because he looks SO sad and lonely... do what your heart says!!! even if things don't work out you could make sure he's taken to a rescue where someone else will make sure he's taken care of.. not wherever he is now! (which i don't think is a good place)

| You have such a big heart, but right now you have your hands full. Hugs to you for wanting to help him so much, but we can't save every yorkie. Your other furbabies need you and the time this precious little guy would take would mean less time and attention from you that they need right now. Let's all just focus on finding the best place for him. Hugs! I understand completely.

| Ok Dena, you asked for it NO sweetie NO! I know how you feel, but you can't help them all. You have you hands full with Nat, and the other two. I hope you don't think I'm being mean, I'm really not. Just giving you some motherly advice. By posting about that poor little one, maybe you have helped him, maybe someone else will be able to give him a loving home. I would love to rescue them all, but know I can't. Bless your heart for being so caring. Hugs,

| Dena~ at least you're aware of all the problems you might face and endure. All i can say is that every puppy needs a good home and love for as long as it is here.

| Everything happens for a reason....Follow your heart. You are a kind and dear person and you just may be this little baby's guardian angel. Just make sure you have the financial resources to take care of your skin family before you take on another financial obligation. |

| Since you have already spoken to this breeder....And have that connection working- Maybe you could convince her to give him to a Yorkie Rescue where he will get all the help that he is going to need.....He is going to need medical attention and they will have the resources to help him and that way you can know that you helped find him a safe haven and still be able to take care of your own babies at the same time???? | I really think you should look at the realities of your situation before adding another dog no matter what you feel emotionally to this new dog. If something more happens with Natalie, or any of your other dogs for that matter -- you'd have a much harder decision on your hands of how to either pay for the care or how to rehome some of your dogs to be able to afford the one who came down ill. I hate to say you can't save them all, because I don't necessarily believe that, but I think in your current situation you should just love the dogs you have and put all you've got into them.. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i honestly do not think you should even consider bringing this puppy home. yes he's cute and yes he's sad, but you cannot help every cute and sad dog out there. Its just impossible. That puppy has dollar signs written all over him. Its not going to be easy to care for him. He's probably sick, and it might be contagious. What if his hair loss is due to mange and not being a blue born. With Nat having a poor immune system, you are just asking for trouble if you bring this little boy home. i know you have a few other dogs at home, plus nat's health conditions, and i think children too. its just too much. please do not get him. Direct his "mom" to a rescue instead, tho i doubt she'll listen because she's asking for money for a sick puppy. people like this are disgusting.

[/I] It's hard to think rationally when you see things like that poor little dog, but Kalina's right; I used to look at pathetic cockatoos and my heart just bled for them and I wanted so badly to give them a better home, but my main concern was for the 2 cockatoos I had already and had committed that I would do my best to care for them. That meant not bringing in other birds that might have some disease that wasn't detectable or other emotional or psychological problems that would mean spending more time with them and less with the birds I already had. My bird's breeder told me a long time ago "Seana, you can't save them all, so don't bring misery into your life when you've got more than you can handle to begin with". Sometimes it's really hard to keep that in mind, but I think it's saved me a lot of grief and stress. I try not to even "go there" anymore as much as possible. You have to do the best with what you've got and that's what I'm committed to doing now.

My HD is always saying this to me. If I think this way, I don't feel as guilty about not taking in every dog I feel sorry for. That said, you are probably going to follow your heart and I totally understand that. The money part with new vet bills would scare me. I wish you the best with what ever you decide. You do have a big beautiful heart!
